Love this team match-up today, getting to watch Vlad Jr. and Acuña.

2x doubles for Vlad; basically a HR!

Sure, prices haven’t dipped to the ~$17 they were at during the lowest point of the offseason, but the SP is still under $30 and that’s the same amount as when S2 was released.

Running at 1 per case, I just don’t see why those aren’t higher.

I think you're getting Vlad's NNO confused with Acuna/Torres from 2018 Series 2. Vlad's fall "on average" 4-5 per case according to several sources. I do feel the Vlad NNOs have a ton of room to grow though.

I figured both the 2018 and 2019 ran one per case.

Regardless, he’s 21 and about a year and a half younger than Robert. For someone with MVPs in his future at some point, I see him as a very reasonable buy given that he is about the same price as Jasson Chromes

I said it in his official thread, but people are asking as much for photo variation Bub Rub's as I paid for my RED REFRACTORS of Vladdy.

I dipped into the BST section this morning with my coffee and saw a Lou Bob refractor auto /499 FS -$1800.
Felt like I accidentally drifted into the adult section of an 80s video store. I’ll see myself out, sorry.

Ahahahhaa ok so I'm not the only crazy one that saw that. My daughter actually saw my eyes but out and asked "what's wrong daddy?". I was speechless.

Didn't it say it sold too?

Some people are going to get absolutely scorched. Topps Chrome just doesn't command that type money in the long run. What other stars/future HOFers does a TC refractor auto /499 pull more than $500?

None. Absolutely none. I can't figure out these prices besides that boxes and cases are out of control and maybe people think, well if I bought a box and pulled this card, I'd be happy and its the cost of a box soooo....

The Lou Bob frenzy is straight silly.

I have to admit that I am participating in it a little bit, to take advantage of the insanity. For instance, I recently bought a Vlad refractor auto /499 for about 1/11th of that Lou Bob listing you referenced. And now, thanks to some dabbling in the frenzy, it’s already paid for.

If you take a moment to think about that, it’s just ridiculous: A Topps Chrome refractor auto of a 21-year-old Vlad, who some say is the greatest hitting prospect of all-time, sold for less than what a Lou Bob SSP’s sale price increased in a week.

It also sold for about $100 less than what a 2020 TC hobby box is going for. If that card can’t pay for a hobby box, then buying those hobby boxes is just isn’t a wise use of your money.

For the record: Despite Vlad’s slow start and the Jays postponing three games in this still-young season, he has as many extra-base hits (5) as Lou Bob.

Please stop embarrassing my native Northern California with your lowest of low-grade trolling.

What does that even mean after 11 games? Feel free to also point out that Vlad has 5 extra-base hits, which would put him on pace for 73 over the course of a full season. And then when he actually gets hot, that pace probably goes up to 90.

The 5 xbh, by the way, is one more than the A’s first baseman has. (Can you name who I’m referencing?)

He’s 21. People are acting like he’s a failed prospect

Look at Moncada. Everyone acted he was a massive bust and then he got it together. There’s still time

Looking like the next Delmon Young. Hope none of you boys are too far down the rabbit hole with Vlad money-wise.

Delmon Young was an undisciplined hothead who drank and hated his way out of the league.

Vlad is very disciplined in the batter’s box and, by all accounts, is a good guy. And he’s 7-for-21 with 4 doubles in his last six games (.940 OPS). And he’s a 21-year-old two weeks into a season, so there’s really no takeaway either way regarding whether he’s a future superstar or a bust.

Otherwise, your comparison is spot on.

Vlad does look like he could stand to get into better shape. I'm rooting for him and its not fair to compare him to guys that rake when they get called up, but he hasn't really impressed yet.

Vladdy is 0-4 tonight, but to be far his outs have been:

AB 1 - Groundout - 113 exit velocity, .470 xBA
AB 2 - Groundout - 108.8 exit velocity, .410 xBA
AB 4 - Groundout - 96.6 exit velocity, .080 xBA

So he's hit the ball hard in 3/4 ABs (very hard in 2/4), they just aren't turning into hits

Yeah, outside of the popout, he smoked them right at people.

Can't agree more. You should be buying when others are selling.

In Tatis' case, you should be selling, wait for a pullback (that is inevitable) and buy back in.

Prices for some of his monster cards, such as the mystery auto and Sapphire, are really softening.

(As for selling Tatis...yes! And learn from what of his is really taking off...)
