Yes, both Elgin Baylor and Kenyon Martin are #1 overall picks, so back when this card was freshly made, it made sense. I think that similar thing can be said for many dual/triple/quadruple/whatever multiple-autograph cards.

When I first read the article, Stadium Club "Co-Signers" comes to my mind immediately.
Karl Malone/John Starks, Antoine Walker/Gary Payton, etc......
Unless it is for set collection, I usually tend to look for a single-autograph card first for each star player and HOF'er.

I'm the same way these days, I like to pick up solo autographed cards. A few years back I picked up some duals and triples, but these days, unless the dual is too nice, i'd prefer a solo card. As far as this Baylor card, he's a PC player, so since this had been a while whale for a long time, I was happy to finally land it. Still love it though, even though it may not make too much sense these days... back then this would have been a really expensive card.

Here is a great example of dual I don't mind at all....

Haha yeah baby Boiler Up. Sorry, had to say it since I graduated from Purdue. That doesn't mean I don't think Bobby Knight is one of the greatest coaches of all time.

Speaking of coaches last night I checked my PO Box and I was very pleasantly surprised to see an auto from stanford women's coach and HOFer Tara Vanderveer. She signed the TAG card that I sent to her a couple of weeks ago. I also got a football HOF auto of former defensive back and now assistant coach D. Lebeau on a rackrs card. Two HOF ttm autos in two sports in one trip to the mailbox. I'm a happy guy.

Congrats Veggie that's awesome. Do you have a bunch out still? And do you do it for all sports or just basketball and football?

Do card companies buy PSA graded HOF autos to use for there cut autos? What I'm getting at is I was looking through eBay and there are tons of PSA autos of HOFers. Say for example Nat Holman: he has 8 certified autos. But right now there are 4 or so PSA autos on eBay that could be cracked open and made into nice cut autos for there products.
1. Do card companies already do this?
2. If not why don't they? Is it the cost?

The only reason I brought it up is I just find it hard to believe there aren't more auto's of some of the greatest to play the game. I mean if PSA already authenticated it, why not use it?

Just curious.

I've been thinking the exact same thing.

There's really no excuse for the lack of cut autographs released by card companies. There should be dozens more.

You're right, the card companies simply buy existing PSA/DNA authenticated autographs (e.g. index cards, etc), cut them up and turn them into cut autos.

Hopefully it's something we'll see more of in National Treasures....

I know some of the cut autos manufacturers use come from PSA/DNA authenticated autos, but I have no idea about how many.

Speaking of Nat Holman, here's mine:

Don't know how to describe the feeling.....while cut autographs are great for collection (especially for deceased players), I am more or less concerned with the overall authenticity.
Not to say that all are fake, but companies don't obtain these signatures by having binding contracts with players...
Even for certified autograph cards of living players/living former players, authenticity issue sometimes comes up because it seems that companies now don't have representatives observe the signings as often as the ones in mid-90's.
It is the main reason why I stay away from cut autographs, even though they look beautiful from the scans that I saw so far.

Although football and basketball are my first loves I do occasionally branch out into other sports as well as politics. I have a few HOFers as well as not HOFers still out and I plan on sending a bunch more out within a week or so.

You just have to decide which company you trust more and go from there. That is...if you want to collect cut-autos. Some companies care more than others.

Will - Glad someone think like me. Like I said I'm just surprised there are so few auto's for HOFer's especially deceased ones. Hell look at how many Drazen Petrovic's on ebay: There's 4 PSA, 1 JSA and even a BGS 10 on ebay right now. I'm sure Panini or whoever probably doesn't want to dish out an extra grand to have 6 cut Drazen's but it would definitely sweeten up a product to have the chance to pull it. Heck you can even raise the price $3 on a box and make your money back on it. LOL

Wheeler - that is a sick Holman!

BJHO - I can see what you are getting at. But really who's to say that half the auto's these days are truly legit. I mean yeah they might have a rep present but you never know the shady stuff that goes on behind closed doors. (In no way do I truly believe this just throwing it out there, I don't want anyone saying I'm slandering card companies) We all are putting our faith in card companies and authenticating companies that what we are buying is real.

Veggie - That's cool man! Would really like to see your collection of IP TTM auto's. If you have them all scanned send me a link.

Paul Pierce - I really like the Carter/Nique auto. The 2 best dunkers of all time imo! Great card.

Nice Holman, Wheeler!

All this Cut auto talk makes me wanna show mine....

But they are not all scanned, just whatever I have saved from ebay pictures. Pictures do not do justice.

Nat Holman /5

Buddy Jeannette /3

Andy Phillip 1/1 One of my favorite cards. Phillip doesn't have many Cuts out there, and this is the only 1/1

That's a very nice card. Pretty much any HOFer for under $10 is a steal IMO. But how come he didn't put "The Great" on it? Isn't it suppose to have something like that. All the ones I've seen have some sort of nickname on it.

Haha don't worry bro I won't ever hate you. I have nothing but respect for people that respect the history of the game and those that paved the way for today's stars. There's too much drama on theses boards to begin with. Lol

All good bro, I was kidding. I agree, too much drama, but what can we do, some people live for drama! Take drama away and.................
