I really like the Horford pick up and getting Josh Richardson is a bonus. Our defense should be top 5 easily next year. I still think we need another shooter or 2. Would really like Danny Green but may be too rich for us, Id settle with Kyle Korver and or Jr smith if they are avalible.

Doesn't affect this year's cap space.

Once the 76ers sign someone for more than the vet minimum or Shake, they'll be able to add the lower MLE.

Our defense should be top 2 at worst. I mean I know ben can drift in meaningless reg season games v ATL or CHI but in games where it counts we should be the best or 2nd best.

So, evidently the Horford bonuses aren't merely 'title bonuses' as was reported.

So, the 76ers have about 2m in cap space, the $5m Room Exception, and the $2.5m trade exception.

If they can't sign a real good shooter, just bring back Ennis and trade for one in-season once you see how Thybulle and Zhaire are shooting it.

Nope. Added Kyle O’Quinn too.

He was somewhat productive off the bench two years ago with the Knicks

Ennis is such an underrated signing by the 6ers, love that guy.

Wish JJ would turn down other teams and run it back with the team as well, as much as I hate his early shot clock forced 3s. "salty"

So what are this team's weaknesses at this point:

Backup Point Guard: If Simmons is on the bench, who handles the ball? Also, who defense opposing point guards if Richardson is on the bench?

Closer/Shot Creater: They are missing someone that can handle the ball and take over the game down the stretch. Simmons needs to develop this ability if they ever want to take the next step, IMO.

That might be the only glaring weaknesses. With Horford, O'Quinn and Bolden it seems they've solved the issue of putting a center on the floor when Embiid is out. Between Harris, Richardson and Horford they at least have a handful of pretty good 3 point shooters, plus Scott and Ennis off the bench.

I'm excited to see how this team can play and if Brown can run the offense that Simmons and Embiid are meant to play in.

Backup PG: One of Milton, Zhaire, Thybulle, 2 of whom are projected to be plus or even top-notch defenders [by year-end some learning curve obvs]. And there's really no one in the ECF I worry about torching us at PG other than Kemba, Kyrie and the Nets aren't beating us this year. Kemba can score on anyone not just 76ers defenders.

Closer: Yeah, so either Tobias and the continued improvement of Ben/JoJo, this team only goes as far as those two will carry them. Tobias can shoot from deep, shoot over anyone and run PnR with JoJo or Al.

This team is younger and better defensively than last year's team. One of the 3 young guards or 2nd rounder has to step up and be an NBA shooter. Richardson shoots above average from 3 as does Horford obviously.

so, let's take a look:

S5: Ben, JoJo, Richardson, Al, Tobias. Looks good.

bench: Ennis, Scott, Zhaire, Thybulle, O'Quinn, Shake, Pelle, Shayok[?]
Looks way better than last year's!

perhaps: TJ, Haywood Highsmith.

TJ gone.

I’m fine with that.

Sizers seem to be doing the right thing and building around strong defenders who can stretch the floor.

Yeah, Raul Neto is a solid veteran backup for less than the $7m TJ got. Now we just need to sign Korver when Phoenix releases him and I'll really really like this team on paper. Neto also is above-average from 3 although high variance in each of his 4 seasons.

I think the Bucks will be considered by Korver as well with the relationship Bud has with Korver from their time in Atlanta and the Bucks need a knockdown shooter off the bench.

Sure, why not, I'll just point out that Korver spent his first 4.5 years in Philly after we drafted him and knows the city and its fans well. He also played in Atlanta with 76ers GM Elton Brand, so two plusses there.

He would get so many open jumpers playing with Embiid, Horford, Harris, et al. I'm sure he'll consider all the good options.

I think they need a scorer off the bench. A lot will depend on Zhaire's growth.

I’ll be interested to see how Brown runs his rotations this season.

If I remember right, last year once Butler was aboard, it would be Simmons/Embiid/Redick hitting the bench after the first 4 or so minutes of the game, then coming back on the court for the last few mins of the quarter.

Will they stick with this or go to the traditional cadence of playing starters for the first 8-9 minutes then going to the bench?

By other question is who else besides Simmons is able to be a primary ball handler in big games? I imagine at some point this season they’ll make a run at picking up a better backup point guard

I was thinking running Harris (or maybe Richardson) a bit with the second team would make sense offensively. Harris can handle the ball, too. That bench unit is really green.

The East is the Sixers to take. Gonna be up to Ben Simmons. He has the most potential to still take a big leap in growth this year. If he does, Sixers are going to finals.
