I wouldn’t base it off the flagship card, since production of 2020 Topps series 1 is exponentially higher than 2018 Topps Update. But still, Yordan lags criminally behind the Big Four of 2018-2019, as well as the top rookies of ‘22.

If he keeps hitting like he did last season, which most of us in this thread certainly think he will, then the hobby should wake up to him.

I’m a huge Vlad fan, and there is an endless supply of Soto fans around here. But it would be tough to argue that Yordan’s cards should continue to lag behind if he continues to put up 1.000 OPS seasons.

(I compare these three because they profile more similarly to each other as hitters playing offense-first positions.)

I wouldn't worry about flagship base. It's clear what he's capable of and I'm not done accumulating yet, so I'm not concerned.

It will eventually and I think it's a 9 as well. It has some surface scratches, so it wouldn't gem.

I only sent 2021 first due to the value fitting the last order I sent, plus I knew it would gem.

Just had a Yordan auto submission pop at PSA. It is a blood bath. One ten out of 10 auto rookie cards. Ouch!

Oh no, sorry to hear that man. It's happened to me before and it's a bummer, but hopefully they're all 9s and no 8s or below, right?

He's actually not that far behind. When I adjust for age and team he's about half of Acuna/Tatis/Vlad (a little more vs Vlad, a little less vs Tatis), and about 25% of Soto. That can be made up in one season.

I use BCA, which is much more stable across the years than Flagship base. If you're question is will his Flagship base ever be $15? The answer is no. Last year he got on fire and his Flagship base went from $2 to....$2. If he wins a triple crown they might sell for $5. Wander and Adley buyers should heed this phenomenon as well. J-Rod too, even though he's in Update.

Haha. Here were my results. All autos.

- 2018 heritage minor real one - 8. This one hurts as it was sharp! And I thought had a chance to be pop 1 psa 10. Must have missed something.
- Chrome purple - 9
- rookie of year gold - 8
- Brooklyn gold jersey number - 9
- Chrome green - 9
- silver pack - 10
- box topper gypsy queen chrome - 9. Sorry eye, your streak of 10s is over! This is such a sweet card though.
- 2018 bowmans best - 9
- sterling gold - 9
- sterling orange - 9

All PC cards, not going to sweat it. My biggest card in the batch was a Marco Sterling Red that got an 8 and a Soto Power Producers that got a 7.

I'll share them when I get them.

Unfortunatly the non Yordan / Soto / Marco cards got 10s.

If you were to sum up the total value of all Yordan cards. How would it compare to the total value of all Mantle cards?

This question has been on my mind lately for some modern players, concerned their total card values sum amount is way too high to be sustainable long term as more collectors move on the new young guys.

No need to answer. Maybe I'll take a stab at it and start a new thread.

Ah man, was hoping yours would gem. Mine is a 9 as well, those are very hard to gem I bet due to back corner/edge issues.

As for the rest, not too bad. Ultimately it's just good to have your PC slabbed.

Yeah. As should be expected because I just sent in a batch and screened none. The grades are lower then people's average subs. But nice to better know what I have and have them protected.

Big sigh……. Alright, fine. I’ll take it back. I mean, it’s probably one of the most bland cards ever made, but relieving you of the burden is the right thing to do.

Remember that site that lasted two months that counted PSA 10 market cap (price x qty sold)? #1 on that list was Juan Soto, not Mike Trout.

I think Mantle is not the best example simply because he is such an outlier price wise. The PSA 10 '52 Topps is going to wipe out almost everything for every player...possibly (probably) even Mike Trout. If you compared Yordan to a normal GOAT from that era like Hank Aaron or Roberto Clemente, I think we'd be in business.

Good point. Mantle would not be a good candidate for this because of that 1 card.

One thing is for sure. Topps doesn't want us being vintage collectors. It's to their benefit to make the youngest stars the most attractive.

This is not difficult to do because of that whole getting to see them play thing. Now, if I had a time machine it would be a different story

I do think you have the cause and effect backwards though. Topps isn't pushing the young stars on us, we are pushing the young stars on Topps. Those are who people want to see and want to collect, so that's what they pump out.

It's all about pop reports and getting serial numbered stuff because human nature is to own something that is limited and rare.

There are 15.5k psa 10 yordans, 24k total for flagship base graded - base will never hold value

These auto chromes are selling well. On the rise I think in price. I'm hoping the recent green auto that sold for 560$ was an honest auction. That's a very strong sale.
