This is a corona virus. Corona viruses are not new. They were first identified in the '60s and we've been studying the different classes of them since then.

Saying nobody is qualified to deal with coronavirus-19 because it's slightly different than the other types of coronaviruses is like saying no mechanic is qualified to work on a 2020 Cadillac CT5 because until now all we've seen are 2019 Cadillacs. It's just silly.

They did. They created several vaccines. They developed a plan to get us through until it can be made available. They recommended all sorts of stuff to governments all over the world. They figured out better ways to treat people after they have it. They've done plenty, probably saved millions of lives worldwide.

But you go ahead and dismiss all that. I'm sure your mechanic or your gardener know better than they do anyway, right?

I get that you don't want to deal with restrictions. So just be honest. Just say "I don't wanna" and stomp your feet. At least that's genuine and honest. Calling into question the competence of these dedicated professionals that have saved so many lives simply because you're searching for any lame excuse you can find to justify your temper tantrum is just not cool though. It's just not.

What is the big deal? By the time this whole thing is over a majority of the population will have had covid. They found evidence in blood samples as far back as Dec 2019 of covid in US patients. I would guess that nearly half the population has already had it or been exposed and is immune to it. Still unclear to me why the whole country is hiding from a virus with a 99%+ survival rate.

Again, I understand you HATE having conversations without trying to get personal, I don't understand it. There are no merits to these shutdowns. None. I have seen family and friends lose everything because they have to be closed because someone else is afraid. I have seen someone die from the lockdowns. I haven't seen anyone even come close to dying with COVID. Nothing I am saying is wrong if you use data and logic. You don't need to be an expert to look at this and say, "One is not like the other."

Think about that. We had 100,000 people at a sporting event between the first known case of COVID and the shutdowns. Billions of people attended sporting events, concerts around the world during that time. But it wasn't made an issue until we made it an issue.

They know more than you. They know more than me.

You see the bad side of restrictions. I get that. There most certainly is a bad side to them. But that absolutely does not mean the experts are wrong.

There are people that have spent their lives studying what to do in situations exactly like this. We have teams of professionals that make plans for pandemics of all types. And now you want to ignore them because you think your little tiny slice of the world gives you the "common sense" to think you know more about this stuff than those people? Umm....

I suppose it's possible that these people have some crazy plan to influence an election. Oh, wait, that's over already. Maybe their plan is to get rich selling a bunch of masks. I'm not really sure why these professionals would plunge us into an economic minefield for no reason though. They must have some endgame for lying to all of us. What would you suppose that might be?

Option A: the professionals that have spent decades studying this, dedicated their careers to pandemic response, served alongside other world renowned experts in the field of pandemic response and corona viruses are all stupid, and some internet guy knows more about it all than they do.

Option B: they are evil lying jerks trying to profit from a made-up disease with made-up restrictions by fooling all of us for a year...except you of course.

Option C: they are correct.

It isn't a 1% death rate, we know that. It's roughly .35% and that's with COVID. Take away that, and it's a tiny number.
