Eeesh tough to lose 9 playoff games in a row. Silver lining is they are set up for another run next year and this off season I can finally start my Adley collection at the bottom

Yeah... The bats went cold for months. Pitching was unexpectedly the strong point toward the end of the season.

I am so sick of the 4pm Playoff game start times which they have to do for TV.

Give me a 7pm start, under the lights at OPACY and a good 3 hours at Pickles to pregame. Would at least help mask the pain after a loss.

Friend of mine argued with them and got his refunded, so then we bought tickets 13th row behind 3rd base for $55 each. Also the bird land membership was $600 and got you a 25% discount. Next year it is $750 and only a 10% discount.
This. My ticket in Club Level for game 1 in the outfield was $140 a ticket as a Bird Land Member. I bought a ticket to game 2 that was Club Level behind 3rd base for $40 with fees on Stubhub. I'll get over $500 back for tickets I purchased for the ALDS and the ALCS (2 tix to a game of each series).

I won't be renewing my membership with the change to discount especially no more 25% off alcohol. I don't drink that much at games but when you go to game with 4-5 friends and have a few rounds that discount adds up. 10% on merch and food is not worth it.

Speaking of that - pulled the trigger on an Adley auto finally after watching about 1,000 auctions over the last year. Still a firm believer in his superstar potential.

He'd probably benefit from a move to 1B.

When do we think Basallo gets called up to push Adley to 1B?

That's too bad they shouldn't be nickel-diming their fans when they can't even sell out playoff games....

They get their closer back next year. Altough that ain't gonna help much when you plate 1 run over 18 innings. Sheesh...

I would have never bet run production would be so lethargic….. and pathetic.

We will find out in the offseason if Adley was playing hurt, I guess. Something was definitely off with him and he seemed down most of the 2nd half. Orioles future success is relying a lot on him.

Santander’s 40+ HR will also be missed. Looks like the plan is for Kjerstad to come up big but I’m not sure that is guaranteed either. Hopefully the Yankees don’t get Santander. That would be a nightmare.

I am pretty sure Adley was playing hurt for the back half which took his power away, But being hurt doesnt make it so you watch meatballs down the middle of the plate, and swing at balls in the dirt and 8 inches outside.

Orioles sent a season wrap up email to ticket holders today…

“TO THE BEST FANS AND
SUPPORTERS IN BASEBALL® We are sorry the Orioles did not go as far into the playoffs as we all had hoped. Baseball can be very unpredictable, and we share
in your disappointment. This season, we celebrated victories that extend beyond the
scoreboard.
As we secured another consecutive postseason berth and welcomed more fans to Oriole Park and downtown
Baltimore, our community rallied behind us. We thank you for all of your support and encouragement,
without which the Orioles could not have done as well as we did. As we close out this season, we're already looking ahead to the next stage of our journey. With each achievement, we have built momentum for what lies ahead, and we're ready to turn the page
to the next chapter, one that promises even more Orioles Magic!
Spring training begins in February and Opening Day is March 31. We look forward to seeing you at Camden Yards on Opening
Day and throughout next season. The Orioles have been champions in the past and we will be
again - with your help and support...
Go O's!
With respect and gratitude,
David M. Rubenstein
Mike Arougheti
Mike Elias
Catie Griggs”

The biggest problem facing batters is pitchers are tracking them like Mad Dog by building up binders of hitting data of noting their bad hitting/stance flaws, Gunnar is more than likely getting tricked into hitting a home run by various pitchers at the start of the season and they're piling on trying to get him into chasing fastballs/breaking balls.

To dive deeper into that, Gunnar should of taken the Jazz Chrisholm Jr or Soto approach of "check swing" than go into Rob Deer mode. Then again in my HS days, I had been scouted by their divisional rival from being more like Will Clark of "working out pitch counts" and spending 2hrs in a batting cage every weekend chopping at FB, changes & curves
I can only imagine Chrisholm, Soto and Judge are working on batting timing & awareness of pitcher arm angle & release points. 3 hrs per day watching pitchers and batters is fairly normal.

Now that we are first day into offseason, what do you think the Orioles biggest needs are to improve in 2025?

Off top of my head…

1) starting pitching … obviously this is EVERY teams need but Orioles will need to replace their 2024 #1 and #2 with Burnes likely signing elsewhere and Bradish probably out for most if not all season.

2) who do we get to replace Tony Taters’ 40+ taters? I guess they will try to slot Kjerstad there but that’s a big gap in production to ask him to fill.

3) Get Adley healthy! He’s the team leader and needs to be healthy and produce at 2023 levels.

4) Come up with a new Home Run celebration. The splash stuff is getting old and I think it is bad luck to drive a celebration that was fun in 2023 into the ground by repeating it yet again in 2025. Admittedly people love the Splash Zone though!

Looks like they are going to move in the left field wall a bit.

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/...e-changed.html

“The old wall will remain in place, stretching from the 373-foot mark in the left field crevice and extending to the Orioles’ bullpen. However, an unoccupied open area will now sit between the wall and the new left field wall, which Elias said will be closer to home plate by “as much as 20 feet; in others, it’ll be more like 11 feet and as little as nine.” The deepest distance from home plate to the left-center area of the old wall was 398 feet, but that distance will now be a more manageable 376 feet. The old wall was also 13 feet high, whereas the new wall’s height will range from 6’11” at its shortest to nine feet tall at its highest.”

So how do we feel about the Tyler O’Neill 3-year deal?

To me it seems like a definite downgrade from Tony Taters but might end up proving to be a good dollar value contract. Kjerstad probably continues to be crowded out of at bats with this move.

And looks like we got Gary Sanchez too… might be a fun bat to have.

Red Sox talking to Anthony Santander so may be a non trade swap. I'm a Sox fan and I loved O'Neil while he was on the field. The problem is he'll be hurt half the season. 31 HR in 411 AB so he has some good pop and he plays gold glove defense in all three OF spots. Contract has opt out after the first year so he'll probably test free agency again next year if he has another good year.

Well, pencil in a HR from O'Neil on Opening day!

Looks like we signed Tomoyuki Sugano to a one year deal. I had never heard of him, but the fact we were able to sign him for less than Alex Cobb means he probably has limited upside other than bumping off Rogers/Povich from the starting rotation.

I did end up buying an auto card of his with some COMC credit I had leftover from Black Friday sales….

He's 35 with a low strikeout rate...not exactly a guy you want coming into the game with the Manfred man on in the 10th. Hopefully, he'll give them 170 quality innings. Looking at his Japanese stats, he's a control guy, a right handed Jamie Moyer. He had a low WHIP rate. It'll be interesting to see how that works in MLB.

Who's next?

I think it's Walker Buehler.

Apparently Scott Boras is saying that the Orioles is adamant to keep their home-grown stars. Nowadays who believes what Boras says. He only sees money...

I say Buehler, or pay up for Burnes. Or both. Time to spend on the arms, they need 'em. Great young offensive core. Yankees now with Cole/Fried...gotta counter that.

Agreed. Burnes is looking to top Fried's new mega-contract $218M - just insanity.
