I love the photo they used. I was at that game, so it’s a great memory for me.

In general, people (including me sometimes) complain when the image used for a player’s flagship RC isn’t of them swinging a bat.

That seems to be the consensus, but I also like the Tatis horizontal fielding RC.

I hate that one! Haha

But not every card needs to be made with my taste in mind.

Logobois offensiveness meter from low to high...

- 21 Bowman Heritage disappearing
- personal attacks
- pumping
- conspiracy theories
- any mention of Beckett
- any new 21 BB thread

Here's a fun new wrinkle.

1. Adley Rutschman has a 21BB card and a 2023 Topps Series 1 rookie logo card. As evidenced by this thread, there's a lot of debate about whether 21BB counts as his rookie card. (For transparency's sake, I personally believe that it does.)

2. Like Wander, Adley appeared in the MLB the year prior (2022) to his Topps rookie logo card appearing.

3. Unlike Wander, Adley actually received a 2022 rookie logo card... that's right... the 2022 Panini Capstone card featuring Adley and Buster Posey is a stamped RC. [EDIT: Capstone is also available in packs at retail, although the card itself is label as an insert, DV-13.]

So... is his first RC (a) 21BB, (b) 2023 Topps Series 1, or (c) 2022 Capstone?

Think you missed his point, the equivalent for Wander would have been a 2021 card (i.e., the year he debuted).

Of course that whole bullet point is on very shaky ground given it relies on a Panini product, which, wellll...

Well, if card numbering doesn't matter, the logobwah have to pick Panini Capstone or else all their arguments blow up in their face. If Adley has an RC logo on 2022 products, does the 2023 Topps become an "UER"?

Most collectors would go with 2023 Topps. The logo doesn't really matter since the Capstone is an insert. The 21 is a designed prospect card with no MLBPA license(though some have the opinion it's still a RC which is fine too). I think most would answer (b), but the only 100% accurate answer is collect what you like.

Yep, typo. I meant a rookie logo card in his rookie year.

DV-13 is a combo card with Buster Posey. The RC logo is actually under Buster's name. Lol. So is this just a Buster rookie card that happened to be released after he retired? #ThanksPanini

Here's another fun detail: Capstone was the final Panini product prior to losing the MLB license. Similar to how 21BB was the final (old) Topps product. Do you think the RC logo wasn't just a screw-up and was an intentional FU to Fanatics?

Totally. I was thinking the same thing. But nobody cares about Panini products. Haha.

Adley doesn’t have a base card in the set does he? Just the autos and this card with the RC logo. Subtle play by the employee in Panini’s basement. A little ballsier than the Topps underwear guy, I have to say.

In my book, Adley's RC is 2021 Bowman's Best. Same for the other 29 prospects that should have been numbered separately. I've been collecting since 1984. I wasn't really collecting when the Topps/MLB RC Logo agreement was made, came back in a few years later and said "oh, that's handy, I guess" when I saw the RC Logo and, like most, adhered to it as a guide right up until the 21BB debacle. It's an opportunity for me to collect RCs of 30 prospects at affordable prices and, if other collectors eschew it, so be it. But there's really no way around it - to ME and for how I collected my entire childhood - that 21BB is Adley's RC.

The same reasons that 1993 Jeters are considered his rookie cards all apply to the 30 prospects in 21BB

I loved that 21BB simply went with a different card design to differentiate between prospects and MLB players instead of using a silly numbering system. I wish they hadn’t caved to the controversy and gone back to the different numbering with 22BB.

It's not either/or. But with only 9 posts I understand why you wouldn't know that.
