He had something to prove which is a quality you find in some of the most extreme winners of all sports. Trout is a nice guy and very stable, which is great in every life circumstance other than trying to be the greatest of all time.

If the NL gets the DH, he will probably end up with the Dodgers, they appear to have infinite resources.

Do we know how many teams were willing to let him be a 2 way player? I think most wanted him as a pitcher, but now I'm sure they would all let him do what he wants.

There's another team nearby that would be perfect for him.

2/5 of all jerseys at the last angel game were Ohtani. 1/2 were Trout. Despite the fact that Ohtani was starting, it is still a tremendous display of marketability Ohtani has created in a short time. That's the dude you build a team around - Trout would undoubtedly volunteer to be Robin.

Im interested in what Moreno does in the offseason. They need pitching on all fronts. Both their rotation and bullpen are awful. Drafting 20 consecutive pitchers in the draft still won't get you mlb ready pitchers by 2022 / 2023.

Maybe they could get Scherzer, but I bet he stays with Dodgers, then what, Ray, Stroman, Noah? There's not a ton of great options out there.

I mean if they opened the checkbook and signed Stroman, Ray, and Gausman, then they should compete.

They'd open the checkbook for Garret Cole, but no way for mid-tier..

Verlander, Grienke are options too.

They need 2 starters and 1 BP arm. The young pitchers actually did really well in the 2nd half of the season until they all got injured.

You might want to go look at what those guys did this year.

The guys you called mid-tier are clearly not mid tier starters from their performance this year. You can generalize them all you want, but the market will reflect what they produced.

Gausman - 185.0 IP, 222 Ks, 2.87 ERA, 1.04 WHIP

Ray - 188.0 IP, 244Ks, 2.68 ERA, 1.04 WHIP

Stroman - 174.0 IP, 154 Ks, 3.00 ERA, 1.14 WHIP

My point is when it comes to paying for players especially pitchers, Angels have only ever shelled out money for established superstars with name recognition.

Those guys aren't bad but not perennial all stars. They had a great season and I do think Stroman is always incredibly underrated, but not sure if that's enough for the Angels.

When you say Angels, you mean Arte.

And by any standards, all three pitchers are front end solid #2s at worst.

I mean yeah they're exactly what the Angels need, depth over star power. Let's just hope he changes his approach to free agency now that Ohtani made his intentions clear.

They should sign trevor bauer and have him train the pitching staff while weathering the PR backlash.

So let me get this straight. He passed on the Yankees to sign with the Angels, and now he's saying that he wants to win?
