I'm suspicious of the idea that there is a "best" time of the year to buy.....generally speaking the best time to buy for any given sport is during that sport's offseason, which varies. Baseball cards are usually pretty cheap in January, for example.

May and June have historically been slower months, but that is absolutely not the case this year. I don't recall the hobby ever being this blazing hot heading into summer. Maybe the dip comes a little later this year, possibly July? Or maybe it just doesn't happen. Every single product I am tracking has been doing nothing but go up with the exception of Topps Sterling. And the only reason it isn't trending up is because it started too high. It will have to reset first.

Time in the market is better than timing the market… or whatever the saying is.

I went to the one in Garden Grove a couple weeks back, it was at least 50/50 sports/tcg. Probably won't go to another one up there until the Anaheim west coast show in August

To totally switch the topic, one thing that I've noticed recently is the huge increase in prices for on card autos of top retired players & HOFers.
Griffey auto prices are the most insane considering how much he's signed and how many sets he has autos in, but Bonds & Koufax prices are pretty crazy as well. I have numerous autos of all three of those players that I bought between 2015 and 2020 for less than $500.... |

I've sold a lot of random cards from the 90's online. People are definitely collecting still.

Is there a go-to website for finding card shows?

It's not bad --but there's been some sort of rebranding. Used to be called Premier SoCal Card Show. Looks like the same people involved based on Instagram posts. Last time I went there weren't any Pokemon tables; doubt that will be the case this weekend.

Nice, easy to read listings for a number of shows by State.

Has anyone been to a show hosted by the same promoter as the new Doubltree Portland show?

Just trying to help out. It is up to the promoter to contact SCD to get their show listed. SCD is better than most.

Went to the show in West Chester, OH earlier today and was impressed with the attendance. It was pretty busy the entire time I was there. Aisles were packed and people were engaging. The mix of sports to TGC was probably 65-35 in favor of sports and football and basketball were pretty well represented, more than I anticipated honestly. Pretty solid show overall, there wasn’t a ton catching my eye in cases or dollar bins but still nice to see the hobby is doing well.

Went to a card show in MA this morning that happens every 3 months or so at this particular location. Completely dead… the lowest attended show I’ve seen since Covid. Interestingly, it was almost entire sports with little TCG (this was advertised). Hard to figure out this market. Card show in San Diego was packed to the gills about a month ago and then this complete dude today at what is a usually a well attended show. Father’s Day? Lack of Pokémon? Just the market?? Not sure
