Trout also had 47.5 WAR and 2 MVPs through his age 25 season compared to Bobby's 21.7 and none.

Bobby's great, but he hasn't had the start to his career that Trout did. Few have.

Longevity is the hard part… hopefully Witt can keep kicking it into the mid 30s… that will be really special!

Yeah, but I don't think most people care about a 87.5 WAR that only translates to a single postseason series appearance (loss) and hit.

Legacies are forged during the postseason.

He's basically a modern Ernie Banks, a fantastic regular season baseball player and 1st ballot HOFer. Eventually, the general population will likely recognize names like Freddie Freeman more than Mike Trout.

Not making any Witt vs. Trout arguments, just strictly commenting on Trout's WAR.

Trout also didn't have Aaron Judge as his main competition for MVP.

He did have a triple crown winner, though.

Regardless, no matter how much I like Bobby, I can't say he's anywhere near where Trout was at this point in their careers.

Yep. Trout at 34 looks much different than Trout at 25.

Trout at 25 had 2 MVPs, one of the best starts to a career in a long time, and Ohtani heading over to the Angels. At that point you figure there's plenty of time to start racking up playoff wins and championship runs.

But that never happened.

It'll be interesting to see how he progresses. Aaron Judge wasn't even a rookie until he was 25.

I could see Bobby playing out like the lazy comparison: George Brett. Really good for a long time, with a couple seasons he was amazing in, and one that got him MVP. Not that I think anyone today can hit .390.

But that's the fun it in, watching how it plays out.
