Correct. That's why I'm opposed to the death penalty... because it costs more. Or at least that was the case 10-15 years ago. I doubt they've streamlined the process since then.

I'm not a fan of process around death row.

You did it.
You admit it.
You're sentenced to death.

Walk straight to the back room, enter the wood chipper. Come out as chum.

Seems efficient.

None of this lingering around for decades and appearing in documentaries. Sure, there may be mistakes along the way, but time is money...and money has a tendency to fix mistakes.

At the end of the day, it's a profit deal.

Not opposed to the death penalty if it's an open and shut case. If there's no doubt, it shouldn't take decades, I'm for all the appeals and understand the legal system is incredibly slow...but decades? These families have suffered enough and want closure.

That said cases that have any ambiguity if the person did it or not, seems like life in prison sorta thing. In the event the ruling is reversed, you can't give back time served (well monetarily I suppose you can) but you can't reverse death. And there have definitley been cases of people who were put to death innocently and it's definitley heartbreaking.

All aside if it were me, firing squad every single time. Dead in no time, no suffocation, really not botch possible. And they already possess guns, ammo is fairly cheap. Atleast the drains on society don't have to drain the state's or federal in these cases money.

Complicated subject for sure.

On the one hand, vicious crimes, screw em, string em up. I get that.

On the other hand, due process. I 100% believe every person, no matter how horrible the accusations, deserves and is in fact entitled to due process, including appeals.

It seems like there could be better balance between those two concepts. I'm not sure how though.

yeah in case that wasn't clear im for the appeals, just dont think the whole process should take more than 10 years.

Then again some get out on technicalities and are truly horrible people, real life example. i was like 22 when i met this guy, he was released from prison and my friends grandparents who knew him took him in, they were decently well off people and lived in a nice gated community near me. he was quirky and had hilarious facial reactions to things haha but the quirkiness i chalked up to well this dude has been in prison for the last nearly 20 years. My friend told me all this stuff about him being wrongfully convicted and that he was supposed to get like 2 million for every year he served in prison, well he met up with this guy...a former death row inmate and they were going extort, torture and kill this businessman but the feds caught on and actually had their torture chamber thing bugged (you can actually see the footage of them talking on there on youtube) about what they were going to do to this guy. im like holy $hit, that guy drove me home one day....good thing i didnt have any money then lol

I agree with this post 100%. And let's be clear that this is how Conservatives feel, not necessarily Republicans.

Yep. Big difference between the two.

As a conservative, I feel it's important to note that we (conservatives) don't agree on what is necessary for government to do. Some feel a strong military is super important, others feel it's only kinda important, some not even that. Some believe in a minimal safety net, some don't. All sorts of issues are seen differently among conservatives. But we are all bound by the idea that government should do less, cost less. We generally don't go as far as libertarians, abolishing the IRS or whatever, but still, the republicans have not been conservative for quite a while now. In my opinion, republicans have lost their way. I hope they find it again soon.

I'm curious to see what other pardons come up. As awkward as that situation was, Flynn was a given.

Most presidents have some complicated pardons, so this is no different.

Eyesore state that has an economy/GDP that exponentially eclipses whatever your little podunk state generates, lol. You're welcome for all the tax revenue by the way...

Where do you live? Say it loud, don't hide it, lol

No, I'm guessing deep south or east coast (NOT NY or MA).

I'll take a podunk state any day over the needle capital of the United States. Tell Pelosi to spend some of that money she stole yearly from the people of San Fran. Wonder why it's such a slum. Thanks, Nancy.

I believe it is because you don't like Arby's. An obscure reference to be sure, but funny if you know.
