I should clarify. I didn't mean to imply that Walgreens Yellow prices were too much, I was just referring to BR's neverending pumping of the card.

I think the card is a great buy for many reasons but we've talked about it quite a bit in the Walgreens thread and I've said what I felt about the card there. I don't see a need to constantly bring the card up at every opportunity. Hell, I'm still buying them so the less chatter the better, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm still concerned about the Meijer Purples and their distributor and hoarding and market manipulation. I think there's no doubt that the purples are quite rare, I just don't think they're as rare as the market would lead us to believe.

This is just for Update RD cards, though, right?

Series 2 purple should be more honest in market supply, as they actually packed out?

Agree, only one US56 purple graded and it’s a PSA 10. No 9’s and none graded by BGS that I can see. That’s awfully suspicious...

Compared to 20 total graded of the S2 410 purple...

Either way I suspect purples are indeed considerably more rare than yellows. Just my opinion. Some funny business definitely occurred with the update purples.

I think we assume that because we didn't notice the suspicious activity until everyone went hunting for Update and that one seller got spotted. But wasn't the same distribution company used for the entire 2019 print run? (rhetorical)

I wouldn't be surprised if someone took a hefty chunk out of series 2 and when no one even noticed they just said "eff it" and wiped out the Update series.

Obviously, all we can all do is speculate but something is most definitely rotten in Denmark. I see no reason to suspect 100% fair play in S2 and then complete scorched Earth in Update. Employee theft usually starts small and then grows.

I can dig this... I bought my update purple Vlad from a EBay seller who’s address was 6 miles from the main MJ holdings distribution center in Bedford Park, IL. His EBay account had never sold a card before. Hmmmm???

Let’s also remember how S2 purps were packaged and how easy the purples were to spot still sealed.

Anyways, it definitely could be a false corrupt scarcity, but it’s a scarcity either way.

I would expect the magic pile of S2 purple packs would have made an appearance during Tatis’s hot streak, but you never know...

I think its started. One gem went for over $1200 a few days ago if I remember correctly. I was amazed considering his market has softened a bit the last week.

Yeah, the purples are definitely rare. My concern (well, I don't own one so I guess I'm not concerned, but my curiosity...) is are they obscure? There's such a thing as "too rare." The Wagner isn't the most valuable prewar card because it's the rarest. There's probably hundreds of cards with fewer known copies than there are of the T206 Wagner.

I think the Purples and Yellows will always be attached to each other in some small way. Both being rare retail-only releases with odd background stories from the same year. I think the purples will always be more valuable but the Yellows will be more collectable. Again, the obscure versus rare thing.

He has IMO. I personally have never bought or wanted to purchase a purple refractor, until the Tatis RCs came out, and really pair well with the card overall. I grabbed the chrome refractor and sapphire as well when they released, and think they look great. Tatis!!

Ugh I had a beautiful blue TC refractor that I got graded a gem mint 10 and sold last off-season as I was contemplating one Tatis card to move. I decided to hold on to the flagship gold PSA 10 instead, but that blue was a beauty and for the price I got I wish I would have held on to it. That’s said I’m glad it went to a collector doing the rainbow....

I bought a green wave say, 3 months ago? I liked it so much I bought another one lol. The waves are awesome and green looks great on that card. I’m a big fan on color matching team colors/refractor colors but in most cases, green matches pictures taken on a ball field

I thought Series 2 Meijer cards were packed out as a Topps product (the blister pack hangers). Wouldn't that make it a different case? As they weren't sold off to a 3rd party?

Update is weird, as Topps seems to have sold all their purple print run to a repacker. And to your point, it is unclear what remains to be shipped out in the future.

This is correct, good point. MJ holdings didn’t have S2 Purples for repack. Those Purples come out rough in that packaging!!

I’d really like to know the story with update purples. Someone had to have ran into some kind of trouble over it. We talked about it on here for months.

is this why I can't find a 2019 Update US197 Cole Tucker Purple? I've only seen a few sold on eBay, they seem to be very rare. I need it to complete my rainbow

I was never into the wave refractors until I grabbed the blue wave and it is real nice. I also love purple for this card, I know the uniform is not, but it goes well IMO.

I know from keeping an eye out for some of the lower tier RCs that there has not been any significant quantity of Update purples to hit eBay since the initial offerings.

Well, I say I like to color match but I’m also colorblind so purple is just as good as blue for me!!!
