Yordan debuted at 22. It’s not like he’s Aaron Judge and started at 25. And the season he missed (all but two games of) was the Covid season, so that doesn’t really set him back all that much.

Soto’s market actually took a while to take off, really until he went off in ‘20 (his third season). I remember scooping his stuff up after his rookie season and then, after a brief sell-off in ‘19, buying more later that year because it seemed so undervalued.

The thing with Yordan is that he lost hobby momentum because of ‘20, and then he returned strong but not out-of-this-world elite in ‘21. So, he kinda got forgotten. On top of that, people are slow to realize that he’s not just a DH—evidenced by some of the people in this thread who continue to say that he is.

Typically, a player’s market ascends in increments, usually with the first step being when he establishes himself as a superstar, and then the second step when he affirms himself as such the following season. Yordan was basically re-establishing himself this year as the player who grabbed the 2019 ROY after a half-season of dominance, and then next year is when he’ll likely make a big leap. This, of course, assumes that he stays healthy and that the economy allows for people to comfortably splurge on cards.

1) He was not highly rated as a prospect.

2) He missed the explosive market of 2020.

3) The PSA deluge of #276 and #200 gems.

BTW, he's not cheap in an absolute sense, just relative to the very biggest names in the hobby right now...ie the handful of guys who are capable of producing at his level.

It's not out of the question he passes those guys in 2023 with a simple repeat of his numbers this year.

Soto is 4x, so that would be a tough hill to climb if Soto is anything resembling himself. Yordan is a little over half of Vlad and Tatis and a little less than half of Acuna. That's one hot streak. Heck, he might even be able to catch Tatis by April 20!

Eye: magically Posts a card being discussed. Encyclopedia of 2020 cards and what's under-rated. Comforts everyone he's not a DH.

Rwperu: comforts everyone with analysis from his price index on how great value Yordan is. Has a really nice Blue 2018.

Danny22: Posts amazing reds.

Someone tries to ruin the fun.

Someone says to be careful, because he's a dh.

Archangel Posts some good info from the game. Obsessed with Finest Flashbacks and probably owns all the Flashback Yordans.

I’m telling ya, if you haven’t already, get a 2020 Stadium Club Chrome refractor. The one from the Chrome Update set, not the insert/parallel from regular Stadium.

It’s the classiest looking card—at an affordable price—you can find of Houston’s superstar left fielder.

(Although, the insert/parallel is good, too. Only about 250 of them.)

It was actually the first FF card I bought in 2020 from a member here. I had a choice between him and Luis Robert and went with Yordan because of Dusty Baker's comments on him. I pretty much track the supers using the pop reports and have been following the Luis and Yordan pops as well. But no, how could anyone end up with 50 silvers and/or 50 golds? That's insanity!
