MLBtraderumors is saying the discussions are with a NL club. Looking at who's out of the race: Padres, Rockies, Reds, Brewers, Phillies, Marlins.

IMO, the Rockies and Phillies have nothing of interest(Giles from Philly is the exception but he's not going anywhere).

The Reds have Chapman, but we won't pay that price. Manny Parra would be a nice lefty reliever but he has been injured a ton this year.

The Marlins have a few good arms that would be interesting.

The Padres have Benoit, which would be a great pickup.

The Brewers have Krod and Will Smith that could be good pieces.

I hope they work something out. If they could get a third big bullpen arm, they wouldn't need their SPs to go 7 every time out in Sept and Oct.

Benoit would be perfect. I'd guess he would clear waivers too.

Idk the numbers but I believe he's had a solid year. Can't be worse than O'pooperty

Soon to be 5 games in a row lost by NY at home. All terrific starting pitching games, but zero offense (and awful bullpen).

Mets have hit the wall. Get 'em tomorrow NYM.

Not this time bud. Mets not hitting a lick today, leadoff man on 4/5 and Kelly has thrown 40 pitches in the last four.

We're in a stretch of very bad baseball. Every team goes through them (this is the Mets 4th, I believe) ... I just hope it ends a lot quicker than the last few.

Can't be getting swept in back to back series at home, just ridiculous.

Indeed. But 2/3 against Philadelphia would be nice. Washington heading to STL tomorrow against Lackey, Martinez, Wacha ... Mets just need to play good baseball to close out.
