I think after the start they had, most people wrote them off as a fringe (play-in) team. Can't say I predicted this much success, but it was apparent when they pulled a Lincoln Hawk and turned their hat around (Ja's injury). If they win a chip, it'll be because they keep teams out of the paint and the refs let them be aggressive on defense. If Taylor Jenkins doesn't get Coach of the Year (assuming they don't melt down), I would be shocked.

A healthy De'Andre Hunter might be the reason the Hawks turn it around this year. He doesn't have eye-popping stats, but his defense is so important to that team.

Props for the over the top reference. One of my favorites as a kid.

Just for fun... I searched this thread. I have mentioned LeBron 24 times - the vast majority being in reply to Ping and not actually anything about the player himself.

One of them was in October where I was annoyed about the feed I was watching where they kept calling him The King anytime he touched the ball.
Later that same day/game I said "LeBron looks great" - gasp!
Another time in October I replied to someone else's comment with a little jab at him for not defending and only being there for stat padding.
The next time was in November about the Stewart incident and that LeBron shouldn't be getting a pass just because he was hooked on him.
Between then (22nd November) and today (22nd January) the only mention of him other than responding to Ping or Rhigh, was him getting away with an offensive foul, today.

Omg I'm such a constant LeBron hater!

Ping mentions Curry 38 times in this thread btw...

I'll try SUPER hard not to mention anything specific about LeBron or his play again for another two months......

Didn’t want to reply to you anymore but this is such a blatant mistruth. Took me literally 30 seconds to see some of the “38 times” are me quoting someone that has curry in their post then I may not even mention curry in my reply (happens when we’re talking basketball/mvp talks etc). Hell at least one time I’m mentioning Seth curry lmao. Stopped looking after that. Such lazy work. When you have to embellish things to try and prove your point you already know you failed.

Your count was 39. I excluded the one that said Seth as I saw that. I also didn't state that was the number of times you spoke negatively of him, just how many times it said you had mentioned the name in this thread. So.... no response to any other part of it? Of course not. Just call me a LeBron troll and run away...

Covid mandates likely coming to an end soon (thanks to omicron-generated herd immunity without large death counts), so place your BKN-related bets accordingly.

BKN is still the favorite assuming a healthy big three in the 'offs, right? Beard with 37-point tripdub last night.

Good to see Russ is feeling better about himself after a good game against the worst team in the league.

Jazz need Mitchell back ASAP. Barely beat the pistons last night. Cade had a great game but was slowed in the second half, which ultimately led the Jazz to put that one away.

The argument that Mitchell isn’t equally as important to Utah as Gobert is dead. No way you can objectively look at the past 2 games (Houston and Detroit) and not see that Spida would have put both of those away comfortably.

They get the Warriors on Sunday and then 2 against Suns, followed up by Grizz. Huge stretch of games that could provide a momentum boost going forward. But they need Donny back.. ASAP!

I still see too much skills overlap and not enough defenders who can stop other teams' stars.

gee, that wasn't very sexy. Joker needs a new nickname about how unsexy he is, like Big Unsexy or something. The hobby/fans want someone getting the ball in the hoop all sexy-like. He needs to do more windmill dunks, fewer of those close lay-ups.

[edit: heck, shouldn't he just take threes all night long? Who can block a 7-footer's trey attempts?]

And still KD and a one-legged Beard took MIL to an ultra-tight game 7 last time. We all remember KD's toe on the line thingy.

Anyway, someone please tell Jeff Van Gundy to pronounce players' names correctly. Not "No-vitzky". "Nuh-vitzsky." Not "Voose-uh-vitch." "Vooch-uh-vitch." Thanks.

Jazz would be dead in the water without Mitchell or Gobert for completely different reasons. People who don’t see this, don’t actually watch the Jazz games and just try to analyze box scores.

I still think the Jazz are one versatile 2 way player or simply a high quality defender away from a true shot, but they are closer than many think. Would love to see a guy like Gary Trent Jr. or Mikail Bridges.

TJForce called this last year and I thought the Jazz were strong enough to pull it off until I watched the Clippers adapt and dismantle them last year in the playoffs.

Ha. Thanks for remembering. And your point about Gobert and Mitchell both being vital to the team is something I agree with 100%.

The best players in the league that win championships are freakishly athletic Forwards who can handle the ball:
-LeBron
-Giannis
-Durant
-Kawhi

One of those guys have won every finals since Dallas in 2011, with the exception of the Warriors in 2015, who did have Iggy to try and match LeBron athletically.

You either need a guy like that, or you need a guy who can match up with a guy like that. Royce O'neale and whichever Bogdonavich they have won't cut it in the playoffs.

Damn, Caruso out 6-8 weeks due to fractured wrist from the Allen flagrant.
Bulls without Ball and Lavine too. The positive is that this Dosunmu kids looks decent and gets plenty of game time.

That sucks that Caruso is out, was hoping Allen was over that sort of BS. Laughing after he was ejected wasn’t a good look either.

players like allen and the morris clowns should receive 40-50 game level penalties - when they have histories of these kinds of plays it should be a no-brainer to boot them.

I feel this. The NBA is just inherently better when Zion is out there on the floor. Hoping for an epic comeback…and a trade.

A casual 40-13-6 with typically great D by Embiid.

Allen should be suspended at least 10 games.

This pretty much seals any chance the Bulls had of finishing with a top seed, coming from one of the teams poised to pass them.

anyone have a slo-mo view of the allen/caruso foul that can explain how it was so bad? as i was watching it live last night and seeing the replay, i didnt see it as malicious. allen fouled him in the air to prevent a layup/dunk and a secondary swipe at the ball to prevent him from getting an and one. it didnt look like he made a swipe at his head or anything. i didnt think it looked malicious, especially to the extreme of wishing allen to get injured or being suspended for several games. i would love to hear a break down explaining your stance to the contrary and am willing to change my opinion.
