I heard on ESPN the bad news is he's played 85 games and missed 87 games as a pro but the good news is he's played 3 more games than Greg Oden did at this point in Oden's career. Come to think of it, maybe all of that is actually bad news.

Greg Oden 2.0 feel sorry for all the suckers who paid for his cards which soon will be only worth putting in bike spokes.

Question:
Based on the hype, if he has a very brief career, never recovering from the injury bug totally, will,he be the biggest bust of all time in any sport, based on the dollars lost?

To me shows NEVER invest in hype as it will burn you more then it will pay off. Just like when these players are drafted most are coming off one good year in college and never live up to the hype the were drafted with.

Lol. Coming from the guy that strongly pumps a true specimen of health in JJJ.

Based on dollars lost? Probably, yea.

The pandemic pumped obscene amounts of liquidity into every single asset and Zion was probably among the highest in speculative inflows.

Besides maybe baseball? Those prospects get mega hyped and most don’t end up working out but I’m not familiar with who’s who

Even if Zion has an amazing career the peak 2020 buyers are never gonna come close to making their money back

Just think of the guy who pulled the Logoman card. He pretty much is stuck holding it praying Zion turns it around in the next few years. Right now that card value is the lowest it ever has been.

Oh without a doubt. There could be cards that were worth 6 figures that in a few years may not be worth $1,000.

If you bought cheap cards to collect I wouldn't worry about it. No one, unless you're super rich and can afford it, was paying thousands of dollars a card for Zion cards to collect. It was as an investment.

Maybe I’m wrong but it seems the high end Zion market almost totally dried up.

I mean seems like his stuff has taken 70-80-90% drops and there’s barely any liquidity left.

Any mods paying attention, feel free to rename this thread to the “BBW Depreciation Megathread”. Thanks in advance.

Then, I saw this dude Kifo.....Illlinois. I am watching this giant of a man carry weight.

No comparison. He was never hyped like Zion and my investment in buying low is paying off. Zion? Time will tell but NOT ATM and JJJ is playing.

I also know my investment ROI is much better then those who invested in him. Let’s compare.

My 30 Chronicles Blue /99 plus grading is a $1,250 investment. What about your investment?

I'm not worried about it at all..i have decent mid end zions but i can't afford the real good stuff. It's still a crap attitude to have and it runs rampant here on BO..feels like people who didn't like Zion cross their fingers and hope he gets hurt so that can gloat and mock those who did buy cards of him. If some felt like Zion wasn't worth buying cards of..cool..i get it. I'll just never understand people coming here to gloat and mock and be all giddy that people will lose money on his cards regardless of what reasons they bought them for..it's just not something I'd do

For people like me I just thought it was crazy and perhaps foolish to invest 5-6 figures into a single card of a rookie. This shows how money hungry people are chasing investments of a rookie that they will throw that much into a guy who's done nothing.

It’s FOMO I think. Chasing massive gains that are unlikely to ever happen again.

That and the feeling of missing out on guys like Giannis who came from nowhere

Huh? Nobody is hoping anybody gets hurt.

Don’t mistake the natural insecurity that comes with “investing” in a prospect and that does not working out with mocking. Could have just as easily gone the other way right?

Its like a minefield picking these prospects, and it’s okay for people to breathe a sigh of relief for not getting blown up.

Like someone said in another thread, this place has become so douchey. Someone injured and you’re not a fan? Let’s go in their fan thread and make fun of them for no reason! We’ll look so cool.
