Alot should be said about this, doesn't matter if you dislike the goverment or not. They live in this country, many have fought and died to protect that flag, yes its not like they're lighting a person on fire, but its symbolic enough that it is punishable by law, and it should be. If you don't like our country then get out..i mean its that simple. i know there was a big back and forth yesterday about letting immigrants in or not. I believe if they are properly vetted they should totally be allowed in, pay taxes, vote, everything an american does/is entitled to, we/our ancestors were all immigrants at one time, unless you were native american. But the same should go the other way, you want to topple our monuments or burn our flag in your little hissy fits, leave...do everyone a favor and leave, you clearly have a problem with our country...leave. Theres a basketball player Lonnie Walker who tweeted
"Will never celebrate the 4th of July. Know your history!! Stay woke" but hes perfectly willing to accept millions of dollars to play basketball in one of our AMERICAN cities, i'm all for freedom of speech, but at the same time, love it or leave it Lonnie...

Burning the flag? Yes, to me that very much means you hate your country. Waving soviet communist flags in the US? Same. Tearing down the founding fathers? You bet.

The thing is that I have some issues where I'm a bit left, but on most issues I am solidly conservative. It's just that those issues are not what we've been discussing. For example, I am 100% pro-life. But that hasn't been a topic recently.

So, yeah. On the issues we've been discussing, I might appear in the middle. On all issues overall though, I lean right.

It's pretty easy to see who AOC is. And yeah, I restrained myself from going further than "middle school teenager" because, well, you know.

Still, she is an American and has the right to be a whackjob if she wants. Hard to believe she got elected, but we (as a nation) don't always make the best choices.

Fair, i know you're not a Donald fan, and thats fine too, the fact that you're 100% pro-life more than makes up for that fact in my book

and yeah she can have her ideas, thats part of being an american, but it is potentially dangerous, when she starts writing things in about abolishing prison and things of that nature. its fine because outside a few thousand radicals we have here in America, noone (from either side) in their right mind would go along with these things and these laws will likely never come to fruition. Me thinks if someone attacked her or her family was subject to unpunished criminal activity she'd be changing her tune.

Very much like our riots and looting in chicago, our stupida$$ mayor was all for it. Until they started coming around her neighborhood...tune changed awfully quick.

To me it means something very different.

Let me be clear: I have never burned a flag or any of that crap.

But I'm not going to jump to the conclusion that the only reason a person might burn a flag or tear down a statue is because they hate this country. I'm pretty sure there are multiple reasons a person might do that and not all of them involve hating America.

Maybe many of them love their country but think it needs to change.

I just don't agree with most of this.

We are Americans. We have the right to disagree with our country. Doing so does not mean we hate our country.

I think many of these acts are similar to a toddler throwing a tantrum. It's not that they hate their Mommy, it's that they're unhappy about something and too immature to deal with it in an adult way.

right, and thats why prostesting (just marching in the streets and chanting and bullhorns, and all the bells and whistles) go nuts thats fine.

but causing physical destruction to property that isn't yours is completely unacceptable. They should find and arrest these people and make them either pay to have things fixed or judges should sentence them to fix the things themselves. You start letting these things go, and its a very slippery slope into assaults and murders.

I'm all for protesting things you disagree with, but never really understood the logic behind things like burning the flag. Sure it gets you attention, but is bad attention a good thing? Are you really drawing people under your umbrella by pissing them off?

Why wouldn't they celebrate? The US will now bring soldiers back to their countries to fight in their conflicts and allow as many businesses in the US to move abroad to strengthen their economies.
