Just honestly asking what's so special about Ohtanis ABs to compare them to those guys... batting .263 with a Bellinger swing for the fences long swing style

if he would just be hitting then I would think he gets more around .290

more fun to watch Tatis/Acuna (Ohtani somewhat close) and then of course the always difficult outs Soto/Vladdy

+ a few others.. but these guys are the talk of the day lately
I enjoy players who tend to play with swag but not cocky. Bonds was all business on the field, even if people hated him and the whole steroid era is a wash for me. There were probably a lot of players who did them but was no good enough to put up the numbers they did.

I am more intrigued by Ohtani overall so not just his AB. I watch when he pitches as well. A lead off pitcher is insane. The game is much better with him and if truth be told the hobby exploded with his performance, more so than any other player. I have yet to see a bad write up about him, unlike some of the other talented players in the game.

I can see that. without a doubt Ohtani is very talented + likeable and I believe things will just get better for him..

If Ohtani Mania is wild right now at age 27, imagine if he was doing this at 22. at least 3x the current prices

Yes. Ichiro was 27 when he won HJS MVP TOO. He will NEED 3-5 more years of this performance and should that happen, he will bypass Vlad/acuna/Soto because of the international market alone.

That was a sentimental homerun.

Heaney gave him a free one as a sign of respect, from an old teammate to another. They were on the same pitching rotation for 3 years.

you come in here posting about Guerrero hitting 2 HRs tonight that will kick off an MVP run and then in the next post say that Ohtani would be more fun to watch going for more singles instead of HRs. The satire writes itself

Sho-Tani - 6 away from the Angels record.

slightly OT, but all of the butthurt about ohtani in the vlad thread this year is really bizarre and hilarious.

If he weren’t hitting he’d be having a very nice pitching season possible CY candidate.
Because it’s both he’s having the best single season in history of MLB. That’s what I’m getting.

ok, but he did say to stop and watch his (AT BAT) not a full game pitching/hitting.. he was solely saying an at bat... not catching/pitching/running bases etc

I said if Guerrero is hitting for avg + many Homeruns for the next full month and gets the Jays to the playoffs while Ohtani hits a home run here and there and strikes out 2-3 times per game (like today) and doesn't pitch (injured). we might see Vladdy win MVP.. Ohtani is no lock.

I gave Vladdy a 10% shot IN MY OPINION!

if Ohtani plays like the last couple of weeks/games he looks like JOEY GALLO and not an MVP. doesn't mean he isn't fun to watch

HOWEVER--- I did say he is very fun to watch and an amazing player (if he was just hitting he would be even better) only time will tell what happens with him. thinking Vladdy has a shot at an MVP doesn't mean I'm against Ohtani lol.

Easy to see who has all their chips in Vlad's corner and who doesn't.

Did the Angels organization personally attack you or your family? I don’t recall ever reading a message of yours that wasn’t griping about how awful you think the team is. In multiple threads.

Trolls...butt hurt fans... butt hurt collectors/investors...

So much negativity lately in what used to be a very positive thread (compared to other player specific threads).
