This....win one of two, and take over home field advantage for the time being. To go down 0-2 with both starts from Lester and Arrieta would be tough to overcome, but not impossible with the young guns bats.

It's seriously ridiculous. I cringe coming into some of these threads that SAF is in because the negativity is just exhausting to read every f'in day especially if they lose a game. Getting real old and this is coming from a huge Cubs fan.

Thor vs. Arrieta tonight. Should be a great pitching matchup.

Some have added him to their ignore list. It hasn't gotten to that point for me yet, but I have politely suggested for him to stop being so negative and acting like the world is about to end because the other team scored a run. I don't generally put people on the ignore list but I think I may start doing that with a few lol.

Tonight is redemption time. I hope the extra day of rest helps Arrieta. His arm has carried the Cubs this far and I just hope hasn't been overworked. Certainly he showed some vulnerability in Game 3. He's had six days of rest. That should be enough.

Is it safe to assume that regardless of tonight's outcome game 3 and 4 will be Hammel and Hendricks pitching, or would they consider throwing Lester in game 4 on short rest? I really like the Mets odds of deGrom and Matz vs Hammel and Hendricks in Wrigley

Lester on short rest would not be ideal if this is how he pitches on full rest.

I'm not afraid of the Cubs facing deGrom, so long as they actually bring runners around to score unlike the Dodgers in Game 5.

No chance Lester comes back on 3 days rest, in a 7 game series, he's only going to pitch twice so it doesn't matter to Chicago if it's 1/4, or 1/5, there's no benefit to throwing him off short rest, Cubs need to win 4 out of the next 6 games. The only reason you'd throw a starter on short rest is to avoid a worse arm during an elimination game. That scenario cannot happen in game 4.

Arrieta a HUGE Vegas favorite tonight wow. Bigger than Greinke in LA, crazy.

I'd be happy splitting in NYC. Itll warm back up to 70 by the time it comes back here though. It's been brisk in the 50s the past couple of days. That should help the bats.

If the Cubs win tonight, it's their pennant to lose.

If the Mets win tonight, they're still alive, obviously, but you're going to have to erase an 0-2 deficit, which hasn't been done since 1985 when St. Louis trailed the Dodgers 0-2 and wound up winning in six.

Dude, that's crazy. On the road w/ the weather against a good team in the post-season; I can appreciate how good he's been minus the last start, but he's not facing Aaron Harang here; Noah has been pretty awesome himself lately.

The public just loves the Cubs.

You want to win, you have to beat the best. He can outduel Gerrit Cole on the road in a hostile environment in Pittsburgh, why can't he outduel Thor?

Clearly nobody is saying he can't, but the fact that he is listed to have better odds than a pitcher who...

A. Was at home
B. Was in good weather
C. Was facing the same team that Arrieta is facing now
D. Was on a team that had the momentum going into the game
E. Who had just as good a year as him

... is a little extreme.

Are you seriously suggesting Syndergaard is as good as Arrieta has been or have I misread/misinterpreted that?

You misread that. I'm comparing him to Greinke. Arrieta is said to have better odds to beat the Mets today than Greinke had to beat the Mets in NLDS Game 5 (according to NC).

He's referring to the fact that Greinke was less of a favorite, at home, in nicer weather. I agree it's strange

Arrieta has looked a lot more human lately, so I'm hoping that the Mets can jump on him early and often.

It should be a good game either way, but hopefully the Mets pull this one off to really put the pressure on the Cubs to win all 3 games at Wrigley.

Mets win this game tonight and the Cubbies will have a heck of a battle ahead trying to out pitch the Mets…This series is Mets pitching vs Cubs hitting..Period.
