It’s good to know they have a capable backup though

Ten years ago, the NFL was in the golden era of quarterbacks. You not only had multiple HOFers , but inner circle HOFers. Watching highlights and games this weekend, I feel like we are entering an era of bad QB play. Some of this is because many starting QBs are young, some is the style of the college game. Qbs aren't developed as well anymore.

Winning TDs from QBs are scramble TDs and not throws. I see Dart, Caleb, Mills, Nix make more plays running than throwing. McCarthy's scrambles were the big plays in the two minute drill. I need to do some research, but i better the highest total of QB rushing TDs are all the past few years.

I agree. I was saying this a couple years ago. The good thing is that the running game is being leaned on more with running backs.. A great running game and excellent D is as paramount now then ever before.

Of course. Lamar would be an outlier no matter what since his running skills are so elite. There are a lot of QB running plays with the result of scrambling not designed runs. Happens a lot in the red zone since throwing windows are smaller. It is a symptom of QBs that can't get past through their first two reads which includes pre snap. I would think any QB that is actually good will graduate past that and make quicker throws.

I have more faith in somebody like Stroud becoming a really good QB more than others since running isn't really part of his game.
