Got it - thank you

I’d take that all day over the Ruth/Cobb.

That slab he got looks awful, but are there any better choices for protecting a booklet like that?

This company ( link above ) makes custom, hard exterior, all-archival materials holders - you send them the measurements-takes a few weeks to make ~ this booklet would be ideal for one. They can also inscribe the front of the holder with a description / title of what you have inside - different color choices for the exterior, also . I’ve used them before - they’re the best. About 25 years ago, it was $130 for the holder I had made for a 1890’s comic book - shape of a small, square bound book

Wow I came into the baseball forum to see WS gm 4 reactions and stumbled onto this. Thanks OP for the fun read, and GLWS.

Hardball34 on eBay makes nice frames. Tons of people here have them. (I think he’ll also custom cut one if he doesn’t have an exact match in stock.)

I've thought about using his services before. I'm just not a huge fan of the way the screws look, but the frames look nice otherwise.

Agreed. They sit a little more flush than they look in that second photo, but they’re definitely obviously visible.

Well well well, what do we have here. Turns out OP didn't know about grading 1/1's not adding value.
OP is an idiot but grading 1/1s definitely add value. Plenty of high end collectors that only collect psa 10 and or Bgs 9.5 1/1s sounds stupid but absolutely helps out to have e any high end 1/1 ,graded

Auto grade is on the back of the holder but they only grade the quality of the auto. Not authenticate it. They take Panini's word for it...

It doesnt add value when the card is in #@#@#@#@ condition because OP decided to store it in a sandwich bag after he pulled it.

Agreed, if it’s a 9 it doesn’t hurt/help imho... if it’s a 9.5 or 10 it helps a lot. Let’s be honest, most 1/1’s aren’t really exclusive, how many Jasson Dominguez 1/1’s we’re there this year? 50, 100? So have a BGS 9.5 or PSA 10 sets that 1/1 apart from the others and will be targeted by high end collectors/investors.

This particular card op pulled, unless it’s guarenteed gem mint why did he bother since there are so few comps like his worth $100k, graded 8.5 knocks it down to about $5k.

Perhaps I’m doing it wrong, but grade doesn’t effect the bids I put in for flagship, chrome, or bowman 1/1s. Maybe means I’m over paying, I guess. But the auction end prices suggest that others don’t seem to pay attention to the grade, either.

Real sale? For a panini card? Someone will be big mad in a few years when the market goes back to normal

Seems like a fair price for the seller.

OP will get more because now it’s slabbed in a comically large holder.
