I asked in the dead thread on the non-sports card subforum before someone pointed me here, but what is the deal with people on eBay selling the brand new cards for literally a few bucks less than they can possibly order them? Someone listed the new cards for this week for under $10 with shipping. Building up tons of useless Topps points?

I just started in with the Living Set and was looking at older cards and saw this trend and I'm just baffled.

If you buy in bulk the price per card is cheaper. Buy a 20 card lot its $75 or $3.75 per card.

Once the order window is closed a Print Run is posted. Smaller PRs could be more expensive card so they make more money on the $3.75 they paid.

Oh duh that makes more sense. I was just looking at the 2 pack options and didn't realize they did discounts for each individual card.

There's reports that the current run of prints will be available through this calendar year if that makes any difference to anyone.

Makes me much less interested.

These were fun when limited, now they are just common posters that I don't need a bunch of.

I will continue to pick up only the ones that I intend to have signed so now this is actually better for anyone like me. I don’t have to order the popular ones in a hurry or risk losing out, or forgetting to order by the end of the week.

I honestly think it's just the way Carlos does his gradients. I'm sure he 1) made the sky blue hue gradient 2) made a white outline of the subjects to make them look like they're glistening in the sun 3) filled in the subjects inside that. I mean the twin suns are brutal.

The effect is that the subjects pop probably more than they should against the background but I'm guessing his intent was to make them shine without having to like make every surface shiny? That's my guess.

Topps sure got their fulfilment team on the right track...I got the Dewback wave cards in hand yesterday and they are still available to buy!

Maybe Lizzo, but Jables was in the "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" card set which came out some time ago. It was a bonus 12 card set that came complete in a sealed pack with a special edition DVD.

It's not a rumor, it was in the email that went out tonight about last chance for lebron james' 40k. I posted the artists confirmation in another thread.

Kind of ruins the concept of a "Living Set" (and future living sets) when its just killed off after a round number 500 cards.

I mean they could have kept this going with more ships, planets and a ton of additional characters.

Oh well, I made two master sets 1-498 so far. Guess my wallet will be thankful.

I wonder what Topps' break even PR/card was, based on the avg price/card when taking into account the various volume discounts.

Yeah I saw on FB that the artists themselves were surprised since there's still tons of good characters to make and that's the reason Topps gave them; they're running out of characters.

The artist said too that he doesn't know what 499 and 500 will be since they have submitted to Topps more than 2 more, so who knows how it'll end.
