Default The Zion 'Fatboi' Williamson Career LDL/HDL Tracker | BBW Appreciation Megathread.

I asked for a PSA 10 last week when I posted my 9. Well what do you know, numbersguy on here was the one that consigned with Shillstein and had a PSA 10 to sell as well. Happy to complete the family.

Long live BBW!

Yeah. Looks like 3 of the pop 17 traded hands this week. The guy that buys all the eBay PSA 10s bought one for $6,400 from a questionable seller, a fellow BO member picked one up for a steal on IG (I'll let him post if he wants to) and I grabbed this one.

I'll be so sad if Z goes down in flames... But regardless, this is an awesome card.

Nice meeting you. Happy to see the Zion O & O find a new home.

Now if you or any other BO members here have any spare Bitcoin BTC lying around, maybe the Gold /10 Zion One and One is available!

This situation makes me nervous only because I think its more about his foot than his weight.

Breaking a foot is no joke and no easy or simple recovery for a LONG time after depending on the break/fracture. especially for a giant man who jumps a lot.

I hope I’m wrong but I’ve been reading stuff about Zion’s injury and my fear is he’ll miss a significant amount of time.

In 2014, KD suffered the same injury and he missed 55 games.

2016, Ben had the same fractured toe and missed the entire season.

Furthermore, the odds of a re-fracture in fifth metatarsal fractures are high, especially if the shape of the individual’s foot contributed to the fracture. Additional complications following surgery are also possible and are often linked to surgical hardware issues. Screws and other implants can bend, fail, or even break though advancements in technique and equipment have helped in recent years.

One silver lining.

Aaron Nelson and the Pelicans medical staff have had a positive impact on player health since joining New Orleans, including last season when they finished in the top 10 for fewest games lost to injury or illness. Nelson also has prior success managing fifth metatarsal fractures. In 2009 while leading the well-respected Suns medical team, Nelson and his team worked Robin Lopez back from surgery to fix a fifth metatarsal fracture in just 52 days. Lopez never exhibited any associated setbacks or complications. The variables in the two cases may vary but Williamson is in proven hands.

Word up.

I have my concerns. Strictly because of the nature of the injury. Fortunately, most of the modern players that have suffered the same have eventually rehabbed and put the problem behind them. But that also comes with a high probability of initial setbacks.

Will find out a ton with these upcoming x-rays by week's end. Praying for the best; expecting the worst.

The most frustrating part in all of this is the cloud of secrecy that always seems to surround him and his physical standing. Oliver North files part deux. Gonna need a dedicated wikileaks.

The problem with a Jones fracture, especially for a person of Simmons' size (6-foot-10, 250 lbs), is that the possibility of re-injuring the foot is substantial or at least substantially higher than you'd hope for. A broken foot for someone so big is always going to be tricky to navigate. We've seen obscenely big men like Yao Ming and Zyndrunas Ilgauskas have their careers ended or at least derailed quite a bit by recurring breaks in the foot. Simmons isn't quite that big but he's large enough to wonder if he'll have a higher chance of re-injury than most players.

I know it's a broken record, but it really looks like weight management is going to be critical on Zion's end. He was near 300 last year, I really hope he can keep that weight down. Historically, big man with weight problems + fractured toe isn't a good combination.

Ben did just fine after missing a whole yearr, but he also doesn't weigh near 300 lbs.

I still have hopes in all honesty. No reason Zion wouldn't recover from this, he's a great kid if you just listen to his interviews. Authentic. But I understand the concerns here.

I been on my Dr. Oz grind the past few days.

I'm both optimistic and slightly shook.

BUT; medical advances have been tremendous over the past decade, including new procedures (as recent as 2018) for this particular fracture that have greater short and long term success.

A review of data on 26 NBA players who suffered Jones fractures, fractures of the base of the fifth metatarsal of the foot, between the 1994-1995 Foot on iceto 2012-2013 seasons reveal some interesting statistics. Return to previous level of competition was achieved by 85% of athletes. There was no change in player efficiency rating (PER) when pre- and post-injury performance was compared. Four of the 26 (15%) players did not return to play in a subsequent NBA game after the season in which a Jones fracture was sustained. Twenty-four of 26 (92%) athletes were treated with operative fixation, and 3 players (12%) underwent secondary reoperation. Recurrence of the injury was experienced by 5 players (19%).

Those are extremely favorable odds, though recurrence is higher than I'd like it to be. But again, age, size, and shape of the foot are all factors that have to be considered.

The only careers it really ended were the ones that were already on their way out due to age and other ailments.

Brolo was probably the worst (100 total games) since he suffered multiple recurrences, but ever since he's been fine. Seems like a game of praying for it to heal completely or having it happen again then exploring an alternate medical approach to put it away for good. Didn't even realize CJ McCollum had it.

BBDub finna be aight. He definitely does need to get his natural play weight down though. Injuries aside, it will help him in all facets if he can get down to the 26x-27x range and stay there. It's not like he's going to magically morph from the Hulk into Ish Smith if he drops 15. Boi is country stronk.

Me: ok I'm done buying, especially Zion

Me: ooh I want that. And that's a great price. And I might as well try for that even though there's no way I'll get it.
Spends more money on last three items than on any others before them....

Panic selling. Not surprised. I had been hearing that it was hard to find any decent Zion’s before the injury.

Those base aren’t going to move much, there’s a gazillion of those. His high end stuff are still moving with no problem, some price drops but it’s expected when he’s not suiting up.

Mid end is where most of the great deals are though.

The Ja bois desperately cross-thread hyping has been the best Zion market buy indicator possible the past 2 years.

Trust history.

What’s not good news? Seems like you have a motive here

Ja will cool off in terms of scoring and card prices, wouldn’t be touching his cards at these prices

Taken individually, each of Zion's injuries have high odds of full recovery.

But if you factor in the number of lower body injuries that he already had at this young age, and his body weight, it is definitely not a good sign.

I know that missing 40-80% of regular seasons is the new norm for superstars, but still.....

It is not good news he seems to be heavier then he should be and seems to keep getting hurt. People pay for cards of people who produce and win championships. See none in his immediate future.

I have no motive. I have no spectacular Ja cards. But I do have a little bit of sealed wax from 2019-20.
