For clarity, I will adjust points to mirror Chris' intended roster if needed. If anyone ever runs into issues getting their roster set, feel free to post what you wanted to do (before first games of the day start) in the thread so I can make the updates on the back end after the fact if needed

Net effect of Chris' scoring adjustment per roster issues above is +7 points for his team:
Morel -1 Pratty +6 Abreu +2

Power rankings, anyone? This uninterestingly follows the standings pretty closely, but this year I think the standings for the most part are pretty in line with how I'd expect each team to be doing. So here ya go
1. Bosox (9-1) - Runs away with the #1 slot here having scored a full 200 more points than the next closest team. Impressively is the #1 pitching team despite only having 2 massive point getters (McClanahan, Framber) and missing deGrom for the large majority of the year - though Sonny Gray, Eduardo Rodriguez, and Wacha have all pitched well, and Berrios re-emerging has helped offset guys like Darvish underperforming. Offensively it still shocks me how much talent there is - Soto, Tatis, Trout, Devers, and JoRam lead the charge, not to mention Xander, Willson, and JD Martinez. We may want to travel back in time to see how we let Bosox get so many studs 2. Todder (9-1) - Todder has suddenly put together three straight seasons finishing in the top 4, and looks to be walking his way to adding to that streak, and being a very real threat to win it all. Behind a top 4 offense and top 2 pitching staff, Todder's ~3,300 total points on the year is good for a safe second place in the league, ~100 points ahead of #3. He's done it all by getting what you'd expect out of some of the usual suspects - Bichette, Semien, Arozarena, Cole, Gausman - but then getting absolutely massive seasons by some unexpected guys like Josh Jung, Eovaldi, Bassit, and Merrill Kelly. On the pitching side, Taillon, Manaea, and Pivetta have all yet to really contribute, but there's a potential big source of extra points if they can right the ship. With just one loss on the year (way back in week 1), and now 4 straight weeks of finishing top 2 in points scored, Todder is putting together a fantastic season and is a legitimate title contender 3. Tex (8-2) - Sitting in 4th most points scored on the year, both Tex's offense and pitching can be roughly categorized by 1 guy having an absolutely stellar season, in front of a bunch of other guys that are simply doing their jobs. On the hitting side it's Freddie Freeman having a top 2 non-Ohtani bat year thus far, and then people like Nolan Gorman, Jonah Heim, India, Julio, and Seager having good years behind him. That's all come with Manny Machado disappearing off the face of the earth, too. On the other side of the ball, Marcus Stroman has been the only guy scoring a ton of points, but we have Javier and Justin Steele having good seasons, and smart usage of lower tier guys enough to keep Tex's pitching staff in the top half of the league. If Woodruff comes off the IL healthy and ready to go, this team could surge into that upper echelon of title favorites 4. Chitty (7-3) - The top ranked offense in the league (by a healthy margin of 150 points) is pretty scary looking - Acuna and Wander are the only 200 point players so far, but when your second tier bats are Schwarber, Pete Alonso, Yelich, Will Smith, and Verdugo, that's pretty good. The pitching staff here is only league average - Luis Castillo is great, but there hasn't been much else consistent behind him. Yet, the names here have a ton of potential to keep Chitty in the hunt - Hunter Brown, Taj Bradley, Bibee, and most notably, the recently healthy Tyler Glasnow. X-factor: Carlos Rodon. If he comes back healthy in the second half, he would help create a really dangerous playoff matchup for any team in the league 5. Hollywood (6-4) - I can't help but be frustrated with my offense that boasts Judge, Ohtani, Yordan, Matt Olson, Trea, Altuve, Adley, Correa, and Yoshida, yet has only resulted in the 6th best group of bats so far. With a group like that, you gotta feel like you just have to be patient and let them do their thing, but the results just haven't lived up to the expectation yet. Somehow, my pitching staff has actually ranked relatively better than my offense, coming in at top 4. I have only two 200-point pitchers at this point in Ohtani and a huge season from Joe Ryan, though Wheeler and Giolito could reach that mark in another start or two. This is another one where I feel like being patient is the play - Sandy still has an ERA of 4.75, and Julio Urias has barely managed 100 points so far. If they are able to right the ship, I think I should be ok and a tough matchup, even with losing Robbie Ray for the year. I do feel like there's too talent here to worry too much yet, but at the end of the day, I'm only 6-4 and until the results start following, I'll have to stay in the middle of the pack of these rankings 6. Jac (4-6) - The record here feels harsh for how Jac stacks up in terms of total points scored, but that's in part due to a recent slump, topping out at points in the 220s in 3 of the past 4 weeks. Pair that with a tough week 5 loss to Bosox on a week Jac scored 3rd most points, and that explains why the record isn't lining up. There really aren't any huge key injuries here - Mullins and Riley Greene being out hurts offensively, but those are really the only 2 guys with unplanned IL stays right now. While the pitching staff isn't scary top to bottom, a big 3 of Burnes, Gallen, and Kirby means Jac can go off on any given week. But a big dropoff in arms after that also means we're prone to rough stretches - unsurprisingly we see both reflected overall, as Jac had five straight weeks in the top 4 in weeks 2-6, but has since spent the last four weeks in the bottom 4. Worth keeping an eye on John Means on the IL, who could be a difference maker down the stretch 7. Dbacks (5-5) - Let's start with the pitching staff here, who behind Strider, Kershaw, Eflin, Cobb, Hunter Greene, and Kopech, ranks among the top 3 in the league. Season ending surgery for Tyler Mahle is a big blow, as just one or two more quality arms could really make this staff elite week in and week out - still, we shouldn't complain too much about a top 3 group of players. On the other hand, though, the offense has been horrendous, sitting in the other extreme at bottom 3 in the league. Only Goldschmidt and Arenado have managed 150 points for Dbacks so far (though Ty France is 2 points short of the mark), and guys like Realmuto, Bohm, Gunnar, Baty, and Nootbaar have just not taken off. We do have a Trevor Story stashed on the IL though, and coming out hot when he's back on the field would give Dbacks a chance at another playoff run 8. Corner (3-7) - Well, the run seems to finally be over. After sandwiching back to back titles in years 2 and 3 with runner up finishes in years 1 and 4, then another runner up finish in year 5, the Cornerstore dynasty appears to be coming to a close. I actually don't think the book is definitively closed quite yet- if they all hit their strides and pitch as dominantly as they can, riding Scherzer, Verlander, and Nola to another playoff appearance certainly seems possible, especially with Kyle Gibson, Eury Perez, Drew Smyly, and Michael Lorenzen pitching well. But there isn't much margin for error at 4 games under .500, and even an offense with Harper, Carroll, Riley, Arraez, and Lindor isn't high enough in the standings to count on the bats picking up the slack 9. Lyle (3-7) - I actually like the offense here pretty well. There aren't any big studs, especially with Bryant on the IL and Jose Abreu forgetting how to hit, but it has been pretty solid all around with Justin Turner, a big year from Spencer Steer, Adolis Garcia, Castellanos, Santander, and McNeil. The struggles come on the pitching side of things, where after Bieber, PabLo, Tyler wells, and Bryce Elder (which is a pretty decent top 4), there just isn't enough else. MacKenzie Gore is a great long term piece, and Lance Lynn would go a long ways for this team if he can figure it out. As it stands, though, the pitching staff is bottom 3 on the year, the total points output is bottom 4, and there are still a few missing pieces to contend for the playoffs 10. Ray (2-8) - The offense has a lot of good, not great seasons going on for it, between Bregman, Tucker, Bryan Reynolds, Witt, Tim Anderson, and Ryan Mountcastle. The names are there, they probably just still need some more time to click. The pitching staff is a little bit of the same - Mitch Keller has finally figured it out and is having a monster season, and Luzardo is having a nice year as well. But finding Bailey Ober and Edward Cabrera hasn't been enough to offset major disappointments from Cease, Musgrove, Singer, and Heaney. This feels like a tough spot as there's enough good long term names that it'd be hard to justify tearing it down again, but it's getting to the point where some of the guys just need to step up and start giving some resutls 11. Pcarlson (2-8) - Logan Webb has been, frankly, the only good pitcher on this staff after unfortunate season ending injuries to Baz and Edwin Diaz, and solid years from Kodai Senga and Josiah Gray are not nearly enough to carry a supporting cast that hasn't done much. Things are even more desolate offense, as this bottom of the league group of hitters has been carried by Christian Walker and the ghost of Brent Rooker's hot May - though I do have my eyes on Outman, Duran, and Bader in hopes of them returning to some quality output 12. Silver (2-8) - Big disappointments from Montas and Manoah highlight this team's frustrating year, and Martin Perez crashing back down to earth only adds insult to injury. The offense does boast two huge names in Vladdy and Betts, plus a great year from Sean Murphy, but there isn't enough elsewhere to keep the hitters outside the bottom 2 on the year

My offense is slowly turning the corner the past few weeks. So many big names underperforming mixed with trying to give elite prospects a chance to develop is hurting.
Thats a cool wrinkle we have, that even as a team that has historically contended, I have to pump the breaks on picking up flashes in the pan at the risk of giving up on guys who could bloom into studs. Fun write up.

Thanks for the write up Hollywood! Always fun Would like to point out that my team leads the league in Points Against by a little over 200 and it drops from there couple that with pitching issues mostly and that is what you get a 3-7 team that I still feel can compete with some tweaks. That being said here is my updated trading block. Looking for upgrades in pitching and possibly 1 or 2 more bats.

Definitely cannot complain with how my offense has evolved over the past several years, with Trout/JoRam/Contreras having been on the team since Day 1 and Soto being the lone prospect that my team has been able to benefit from. Fortunately, trades for Devers/Bogaerts/Tatis have panned out and provided further offensive firepower that can hopefully take this team far in the postseason.

I’m looking to shake up my roster. I’ve had a lot of interest in Betts and Vlad but those guys would take a big deal to move. Mainly I’m looking for top end SPs. Everyone on my team is available so let’s see what we can get done

Question:
I noticed in my matchup this week that art exhibit had already had 11 starts for his pitching staff going into today. Right now he has both Kirby and burnes pitching. Kirby’s game will likely finish first but burnes right now is also accumulating points. So how does this work? Does the site just count whichever pitchers game starts first? Ends first? Do they both get counted? Just wanting clarification… |
