They did flip in the process but nonetheless, yes there is a pattern but its surely not the complete set. Sequencing isn't a secret for many sets.

Also, figured something happened, it's been quiet for a long while. There are two people that keep bumping this thread that will yell it to the moon.

But yeah, now we get to see a YT video of Geoff with his PSA 8 and the great investment it is.

I don't think it's that bad of a photo. I do love the red jersey matching photo. Yes the action shot could have been way better but that just goes to show you how little the Star company or anyone else for that matter knew that MJ would become the GOAT.

The Star 101 in PSA 3 sold for $20,740.

PSA 3 Star 101 XRC is worth more than PSA 9 Fleer 57 RC now.

That's it, I'm investing in the 2002 Finest LeBron James XRC. Someone is going to pump it 30 years from now as the ONE TRUE King James Rookie Card.

Unfortunately LeBum will never be the GOAT you won't have to worry about that.

Did you ever bring your football cards to a dealership? What happened there?

I bought this OC beauty from Steve Taft years ago. No plans to sell at the moment, but I’ve thought about crossing over to PSA. Not sure it’s worth the risk/cost. Has anybody here had success?

Seek out the Star group on FB. They are losing their minds right now and the pump posts are out of control, but there's some good stuff on there, including people crossing. Good luck perfect time to cash out if you are looking to do that.

I have rhe same grades on mine except a 9 for surface and my copy is a "tall boy" dead centered top to bottom. If you're going to sell it of course PSA is the play easy 7 maybe a 8! That's a 250k card then! Prepare for the 5-10k grading fee however.

Besides the 101, Jordan Star cards seems to appreciating at a nice rate. This Crunch n Munch went for way more than I’ve seen recently.

sell it on the ride now. Pick it up next year when it falls off a cliff.

Why wouldn't you do that? PSA 10 86 fleer at its peak would cash you in one 200k. Then pick it u today for half that. Smart move?

I wouldn't touch the 84 star with a 10ft pole.

Not that anyone here on BO is open minded enough (joke) but Dr Beckett has a really good four part series on his podcast about the debate surrounding the ‘84 Star. The Crossover podcast gentlemen also touch on the topic as well, if anyone is looking to hear other esteemed opinions on the current pump de jour

Define esteemed opinions? Is that like taking advice on what to buy from a snake oil salesmen because they insist you buy what they sell?

Good grief. Well James Beckett has been a long time voice and respected advocate in the hobby, and I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that, regardless of his position on the 84 Star. And I think his opinions are more thought out than a lot of hype boys on the internet.

Regardless, if you actually look, he has strong advocates on the other side for the Star on his podcast, putting in thoughtful debate. If you don’t want to listen that’s on you. Nobody forcing you but it’s out there and worth the listen

Thats the point. Esteemed opinions needed to tell me what and who to collect. If you need help with what to buy and when to buy it, you really aren't collecting then are you?

I love these notion of people propping others to tell us what do and when to do it. Do you know how many people listened the last time and bought MJ fleers at their peaks "never to be seen again" only to watch their prices fall back to earth and take losses? Esteemed opinions!!

We as a basketball board came up with most all of the points James Beckett made.

The star is an xrc at best, and one shrouded in controversy and uncertainty.

How about cardboard advocates? Would that appease you? Good grief people want to argue about everything. Point was there is a podcast touching on this topic.

Most valuable ACEO broder of all time?

Or does that distinguished title belong to the Alistair Overeem 1st Ed. Qwasian papyrus sketch?

Debatable.

So the interesting thing about Qwasian is there are eras. This is like the nadir. His best stuff was the early stuff, from around late '11 to late '14. That's strictly 1/1 hand drawn art. On the basketball front I value the Steph, KD, and Wiggins 1/1s from that era. But most of his stuff was baseball and/or football, with a heavy emphasis on the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line.

Around mid '14 he started putting his spin on some iconic Topps designs and I like those as well. But finally started pumping out half-assed multiple issues of that sh-. By late '15 he was getting lost in these kind of double card put-the-image-together things. Still hand-done sketch, but cartoony. I do have Jordan, Tiger, Aaron, Mantle, and Ruth pairs. Early baseball images of guys with mustaches a semi-interesting tangent.

This led to what you see here, which was Qwasian dusting off the old '89 Mac from what I can tell and going digital. I have an Abraham Lincoln 1/1 in that same Beckett authenticated slab, it basically also looks like kaka.

He kind of found his mojo again when someone gave him an updated paintbox program and I have a late '17 Mahomes or Brady 1/1 that set the template for what became Qwasian, Inc. on eBay in later years. Also a nice Mantle homage to '86 Topps (that might be late '15, which would revise the digital chronology). The Luka 1/1s from '17 are meh, but historic. Can't believe I paid a hundred. A couple '19-21 Jordans and Bryants are my favorite cards of the GOATs, period. One right after Kobe passed.

While those digital designs could be doper than dope, and gradually grew to encompass black and light-blue backgrounds, a lot blend in. Adding the bikini wrestlers gave a little jolt around '21 but from what I can see that has become rote. I do value the two 1/1 true encased sketch cards he did during the pandemic with a Qwasian sticker. Ja and Shohei.

I avoid the Obama and Trump issues, cause though he did capture the essence of both, people might misconstrue them as meaning something. I do value the masked-up Anthony Faucis, throwing a first pitch.
