Yes, if you buy a box now at the show, don't expect a silver pack.

They will only be included when you have to pay $50 more per box at the shop.

And don't be surprised if card shops quickly "run out" of silver packs, most dealers will tell their customers they've run out because they've already flipped the packs through the back door.

This Topps apology program has too much room for corruption, let the buyer be wise and beware!

Sorry, didn't ask as I had no interest in buying either way.

Would assume that is a no silver pack price given: a) we're talking product-in-hand (literally!) at a show; b) seems awfully cheap compared to market if the silver pack is included. But can't say for sure.

Observations from Philly Show (Saturday)

Foot traffic was decent. New venue this year so there was more space to move around.

Dollar boxes were drawing a lot of attention. Many people crowded around tables selling .50 cents or dollar cards.

Prices for singles seemed high compared to ebay. Seemed like prices were not in line with the current market conditions. I was able to grab some deals on raw cards when packaging multiple cards together and negotiating. But a lot of the graded stuff was priced high and the sellers didn’t want to come off of pricing which was more reflective of last year.

High end didn’t seem to be moving very well. Witnessed some trade attempts but dealers weren’t trading as much as previous years.

Sealed wax (TNT cards had a large setup with pretty much any box available of current and last years products) was not nearly as crowded as previous years. Prices were in line with the big retailers but prices were not cheaper than what you can buy for online.

Overall, it’s clear that the hobby isn’t fizzling out. Based on the amount of people present and buying, there is plenty of interest BUT I believe that dealer prices at this particular show haven’t corrected downward like other avenues of buying.

Anyone selling rare high-end stuff in a down market is a moron. Only exception is if you really need the money. But absolutely no reason to sell rare high-end (and I'm not talking about the Panini junk) at a discount because the market is down. Every bottom feeder and their mom out trying to get rare high-end for pennies on the dollar and saying, "but, you know, the markets down." Move the f on.

Everybody should be bargaining now, prices should be dropping precipitously after the recent overinflation by guys working their side hustles on the newbs.

Actually you sound like one of those show old-timers trying to sell junk era cards at 100x current market value for the past two decades…history repeats.

Old-timer? Lol. I'm 26 bro. You must have missed the "rare high-end" sans the Panini garbage part. Unless you need the money, you're an idiot if you fall for the "markets down" line.

You don't sell high-end in a down market, you buy from people who are scared or need the money. So sellers who aren't budging on price....

1. The rare high end market isn't down.

2. Most people don't realize what is actually "rare high end".

3. 95% of what folks think is "rare high end" is not.

4. Ruth, High Grade Cobb and Wagner, Early Mantles, High Grade Jackie Robinson would comprise much of the "rare high end" market.

5. Much of what I see sitting in display cases with $1000+ price tags is manufactured scarcity junk.

Today's low ball offer may well be overpaying in 6 or 12 months. I heard the same kind of nonsense back in 1994. By 1997 the guys behind tables that said "move the f on"...... had moved on without their shirts.

When you so narrowly define “rare high end” to suit your narrative, of course that segment of the market isn’t down!

Vintage is not rare just manufactured rarity by grading.
In reality it is overproduced.

When you go to a big show you won't have a problem finding Mantle's. They'll be everywhere.

That's the new thing now. Everyone is pumping Mantle's like they are rare
gold. Prices have been crazy now because of it.

I just saw a PSA 5 1957 Mantle go for $3500 or so. It was nice but that
is a wild sell price.

We have big show here in Vegas in a couple weeks. Went to the one last year and it was pretty nuts. Gonna be interesting to see if anything has changed.

I'll be targeting a lot of crap nobody wants LOL so hope I can find what I'm looking for and get a good deal. I'll keep my eye on "Pelican Boi" sentiment for Hermano's entertainment

Thanks bro!

Please pay particular attention to wrist and footwear.

Last year Peli bois were sporting Rolexes and OG Jordans to enhance their pimpwear.

I’ve been spotting more Casios and vans this year. Oh and undersized t-shirts.

On Saturday, I attended the Card Attic show in Hayward, CA. Dion always does a great job setting these shows up. Great turnout with lots of buying/selling occurring. A variety of stuff (modern, vintage, Pokemon, wax, memorabilia, Jason Richardson in-person session, etc).

I sold ~$2k of cards/wax to various vendors. I also ran into some BO members (always cool). Although a few cards caught my eye, I didn't pull the trigger on anything because I couldn't get them at a price I'd be comfortable at (I'm also looking for specific cards). Because I spent most of my time attempting to sell cards/wax, I only had time to look at showcases and missed out on the $1-$10 boxes (which I love doing, bargain box digging is always fun).

Can't speak for other locations but the hobby is alive and well in the SF Bay Area.

Shocker...another troll post, lol.....you won't have a problem finding Mantles, but you'll have to pay for them I could go into details about why vintage is sustainable and not overproduced, but not gonna waste my breath (time).

Don't mind me, I'm just over here making best offers in line with recent comps and getting ghosted or receiving counters at 2x comps and higher. It's amazing how often it happens.

I get it that everyone hasn't adjusted their ask, but geeez.

Just keep firing. As long as it’s all respectful and civil there’s no reason not to send out market prices offers. Some folks want to sell cards, others want to time the absolute peak sale price. Good luck to them and move on, right?
As a rule of thumb, I expect to get traction(serious negotiation or a deal) done only about 20-ish percent of the time.

I had the complete opposite happen to me at the Philly show....dealers were willing to make sales at comparable comps or lower.....especially since it's a cash transaction.

I'll keep firing off the offers. You can count on that.

As to the dealers, that's interesting. I suppose cash, no seller fees and limit time to sell all play into the buyers favor at this point.

Interesting. My offer of $450 was immediately shot down, dealer boi thinking it's a $1,200 card.
