Water treadmill?

There are ways to watch your weight after an injury like that. The weight gain should be a temporary concern until he gets back to full time practice and game, if he is not losing at that point then the Pelicans should panic a little more.

I am seeing some posts on IG saying he weighs 318.

He is real big. Self-control is a biatch. Some people can just never get it under control. I have been a fan since day 1, and this is probably the first time I'm actually concerned. He is an absolute scoring machine and could average 35 ppgs. Might just not be worth it to him though. The choice seems "easy" - lay off the fries, eat some veggies, become a billionaire. But for some people no logic or rationality works. Food addiction is real.

318? My personal sweet spot is fast approaching. 12 more pounds and I’m breaking out the lube.

He's already rich and famous regardless. He either has that Kobe-type drive to be the best at his craft or he doesn't. On pure physical talent he is in rarified air but it remains to be seen if he will overcome the injury/ conditioning questions. Hobbyists and investors seem to think he's a relative lock. I'm happy that I have a few k on Ja and not much Zion but if his prices came down to earth I'd probably buy in... he still has that huge upside but let's hope he gets there before getting any more huge himself.

This thread is falling to the bottom faster than Big Z's 318 lb frame in a free fall.

He may be intentionally doing this thinking there is an advantage to it? In my opinion it's not really an advantage and who knows the reasoning behind it. It will slow him down. Speed kills. Steph Curry is a great example.

Maybe it’s like that episode of the Simpsons where Homer intentionally gains enough weight to be considered obese so he can claim a disability and work from home.

Jeez, his cards are tanking.

A Chronicles Essentials Red /149 just sold for under $50. This is after another sold for just $61 recently. I know people don't love Chronicles, but these are numbered RCs that were over $100 not that long ago.

Regardless how rocky the 1 pint Rocky Road gets, I still say a prayer at night giving m'Lord thanks it isn't as bad as the Week 7 Patty thread.

Calling it now. Bigboi's dealing with an undisclosed injury to his fasting shoulder.

and here's where we see the issue for modern-day print runs. if everyone panics and dumps at the same time, there's no way for the market to absorb everything without a bunch of stuff taking hits.

HODL unless you think that his cards are on a straight downward trajectory at age 21. Once he's on the floor everyone will forget. Remember the concerns about MPJ's back? Yeah me neither.

Been diversifying and moving some Zion’s.

LLY stock looks strong. Demand for Humalog at all time high.

The bright side is, once he starts playing, the weight will come off quickly. We saw this same thing his rookie year.

The whole, start/stop/healthy/injured thing is huge determent for him, obviously. He needs to figure that out.

How on earth the Pelicans haven't hired him his own chefs/dieticians is scary.

I'm throwing the BS flag on this one. He has access to personal trainers, chefs, nutritionists and doctors already. I think this is a case of being a young star and thinking you are bullet proof. He has a lot of growing up to do, those knees are going to explode sooner than later if he continues down this road... sad to see....

They did, just so happens to be the former chef of Oliver Miller’s

Seems he's a lazy fat ass. If he took his conditioning serious he would have a nutritonest prepping all his meals and a personal trainer working with him 2-3 times a day. Instead it seems his meal planner is Wendy's and his workouts consist of him going the pantry to get another box of twinkies.

Not going to blame him for gaining weight during an offseason which he incurred a broken foot. All of the frustration about this stems from the lack of transparency from Zion on the team.

Zion should have no excuse for gaining weight like that. Broken foot or not

I remember everyone complaining about Embiid being 300 pounds, and he's 7'2"!

Then he lost 25 which he really needed to do and boom: the best player in the NBA last year.

It definitely makes the conditioning an uphill battle especially for an easy gainer like Zion. I do think you definitely have to develop a better game plan to compensate for the lack of caloric expenditure while you are letting the foot heal.

However I think you hit the nail on the head that there is a lot of frustration because the lack of transparency about the injury. That was a huge blindside. My Zion fan/cardboard relationship is complicated. I’m a Zion fan, but I can differentiate between rooting for him and the risk I’m willing to take holding on to a bunch of his cardboard at a certain price point.

I may buy back in on some stuff when the dust settles, but I’m in no rush and I don’t think many in the hobby are either. All the while, I’m rooting for a strong comeback because there’s no one I’d rather watch in the NBA.
