I’m updating you guys on the race for the worst record in baseball for the month of August as that’s who your competition is currently. I do believe the Tigers are 1/2 game up currently though.

If you weren’t Yankee fan though, you’d probably realize that there are 29 other teams playing the same sports in the same league as the Yanks and with how bad your team has been that’s likely where that random team getting mentioned was coming from

What is it now; one World Series appearance over the last 17 years for the “greatest franchise in professional sports”? I know the Yanks had some meek times in the 80’s but I’ve got to think that’s the largest length of time in franchise history with only one appearance.

You Boomers can keep living in the past and thinking of your great Yankee dynasties and that the baseball world still runs through the Bronx.

2007 Mets all time collapse lol. It’s unreal how dense some Yankee fans are. You say “2007 Mets” to people that know baseball and they’ll probably look at you with a puzzled look on their face not knowing what you’re getting at. You say “2004 Yankees” and everyone knows.

You do realize that 2009 - 2021 is 12 years correct? Please see your way out of the thread until you go to school and learn how to add.

Never said you were a Tigers fan, but nobody cares about a last place team with no shot at anything. The only last place team I care about as a Yankees fan is the the fact that the Red Sox are one this year. The Yankees could finish with a worse record than the Tigers the rest of the season and still probably make the playoffs as a Wildcard while the Tigers sit at home as the worst team in their Division.

The Yankees claim (incorrectly IMO) that their franchise didn't start until 1903, and didn't reach their second series until 1922, so 19 years is the current record of a completely nonsensical designation.

17 calendar years, but yes, you're correct it has been 18 seasons

No worries, when the Yanks inevitably fall short in October again this year they can tie that great designation whether valid or not!

I don't think too many in the baseball world have noticed this yet, but if it goes another week or two and Tampa or Toronto gain a couple more games you better believe the baseball world will be talking about how the collapsing Yanks have the worst record in the sport over the month.

And yes, I am worried about the reigning WS champion Atlanta Braves. We can't all be so lucky to have 3 incredibly disappointing teams in our division and one upstart that is still a few years away and playing over their heads
