It seems that some Americans view Israel unfavorably, likely based in part on their conflicts with Palestinians.

What do you make of this?

You assume it requires intelligence. I say it merely requires ambition.

Again, I'm not saying she (or anyone else) is an idiot. I am merely saying that fact doesn't disqualify it.

Enough about semantics though. It's not an important discussion, really.

In my opinion, for decades we've seen the media, and obviously Democrats, fight tooth and nail against Republicans while Republicans just stood by and accepted it. Trump is the first Republican I know of that thankfully fights back.
They hate it and I love it.

Fair enough.

I guess what I meant is do you believe he is honest, for the most part. But your response satisfied my curiosity. Thanks.

Texas was never in play in 2016

I don't think it is in play this year either but it is much more competitive and certainly moving blue in the future.

You suppose Trump calling out some of these countries for not paying their fair share to the U.N. might have a bit to play into it?
Other than that, I don't really care what people in another country thinks about who I vote for. I can't imagine why you would either.

I wouldn't expect you to care. Nor would I expect you to care about the opinions of Americans with differing political stances.

I agree. Merrick Garland was qualified, and should have at least come up for a vote.

I guess I shouldn't assume everybody here that I've been conversing with to be American. DOH!
America first, sorry if you don't like it.
Ok, not really sorry at all.

What consequences do you think they may have to live with?

I'd guess their shenanigans mostly only ticked off people that weren't going to vote for them anyway. Both sides have gotten so far away from good faith that at this point it's hard for anyone to cast the first stone.

Do you care that many Americans think Trump has been terrible for our democracy and the future trajectory of the country?

That was four years ago, today is today. I never said it was flipping, just that it was getting closer and closer as the years go on.

They played games on the flip flop of "why" they held up Garland and "why" it was ok for Barrett. The verbal gymnastics were breathtaking.

Further, the argument of "If the Dems were in this position they would have done the same thing" is a projection being made during an incredibly polarized political climate.

Had they allowed Garland's vote - then Barrett would have been voted on with no fuss.

However, we know what happened. We know that the GOP has justified the action taken based upon projections.

I think she asked about the consequences.

Absolutely. But what consequences? Do you think they'll be voted out because of it?

I'd expect that if they're voted out, it would be more about Trump than about the Garland shenanigans. But idk, just guessing.

ETA: Are you talking about court packing as the consequence?
