I am sure you don't and that's OK. Like I said, fundamental differences in opinion play a role in this debate.

There isn't a difference. If you want to own a home you are required to have homeowners insurance. If you want to own a car you are required to have car insurance. If you choose not to there isn't a "fine", but there is a penalty, which would be you not owning said car or home.

Actually, in the case of the car there is a fine to be paid if you're pulled over while driving.

I'd venture to guess you use your medical insurance more often than your car/homeowners. At least I would hope so. Either you're not going to the doctor enough or you have awful luck driving...

Now it's just that if you want to live in this country you are required to have health insurance.

Again, like you said, you could choose not to own a house or a car. Same way you could choose to move to another country. They truly are all one in the same...

For the last time. I want to own a car so I pay insurance. I want to own a home so I pay insurance. I do not want medical insurance. I no longer have that option but I am forced to pay a fine.Simple enough break down for you?

Homeowners insurance is not required by law. A mortgage lender may require if you have a loan. Otherwise, not required.

Car insurance IS required. Why? For the benefit of the OTHER driver. Who wants the non violent drug addict smashing into their 50k car and drug addict has no insurance?

Health insurance should not be required by law. Plain and simple.

Strange world indeed where people value their cars and homes more than they value themselves. I'm glad you haven't needed health insurance, but if you ever do need it, you'll be glad you have it. Not having it when or if something catastrophic occurred could've ended up costing you that house and that car, the same way you could've lost your house or car were they not covered, and something bad happened to one or both of them.

But take heart, Ray, the Democrats are working on a way for you to have health insurance without having to pay for it at all, utilizing our government's ability to make a wise investment in our most important resource of all, our people (and before anyone comes in with cost to the taxpayer, I'll just say I'd rather have Ray and the entire Ray family covered with that money than see it used to buy another bag of screws for a Stealth Bomber.)

Get aboard, everyone!

Cupcakes are soft.

Cuties are passive aggressive people.

Not sure where you live but I never heard of someone being forced to have insurance if they rent.

Healthcare should not ever, under any circumstances, be free for anyone. But god bless those Democrats for utilizing my tax dollars better than I could have ever dreamed in an attempt to create a perfect oasis here on Earth.

You are living proof that some people will believe anything if it fits their narrative.

Obamacare had nothing to do with healthcare for the uninsured. The government could have simply decided to pay for healthcare for these people. Obamacare is very expensive accident insurance where one trip to the hospital can have a working class family teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. Obamacare has more pork and greed than any Republican could have dreamed up. There is no mechanism to deliver the $2,500 per family that Obama promised. The manufacturer of the Epipen is allowed to carry out disgusting price gouging. America got totally screwed with Obamacare because the doctors, lawyers, insurance comapnies, drug makers and more continue to get rich on the backs of the American people. The paid off politicians turn their back and continue to peddle their product like they are personally doing Americans a favor.

We are not in a position where we can trust our politicians to fix this mess.

While its not forced who in their right mind would not want to insure their personal items from damage/fire/theft/etc. especially if they are collectors like most of us are on here

And you want to live in this country so you pay medical. Like the 2 examples above, you could choose to live elsewhere. You want something so you abide by the rules.

My point is instead of fighting against strictly the Heath insurance mandates, why not also fight against the requirements for car insurance and homeowners. At least then in my eyes you'd then come across evenly in your resentment for being forced to purchase something. That's all.

And cruiser is right, but a house outright and poof no homeowners insurance. Unfortunately you'd have to buy it outright and for the majority of this country you'd have to save for a long period of time in which case you'd be renting and be forced to purchase renters insurance.

Very true, but not the point. It's not mandated like someone tried to claim.

Renting in Austin, TX it is 100% required. You can't get an apartment/condo without it. They won't even give you your keys until you submit the policy.

Do you actually want car insurance and/or homeowners? Are you stating that if you weren't required to have them you would pay for them anyway?

If so, more power to you.
