grabbed this at Goodwill along with a bunch of great clothes the other day. it is a 1980 Chicago Schwinn Varsity bicycle. Grabbed it for $20, should be able to move it on Craigslist for $75-100

Had my first sale today. I've been reading this thread for entertainment for a while now and a couple pages back read about the big logo snapbacks. I knew I had one from 15 years ago that I thought was so cool growing up. I thought I sold it in my last garage sale but ended up finding it last night in the bottom of my garage sale bin.

Listed it on eBay around 20 minutes ago for $114.99 OBO and it just sold

Pretty pumped right now. Thanks for all the information you guys have poured into this thread. I think I just found a new hobby!

Some teams are insanely rare. They have a huge following in the UK and have been banned in some areas. As in the police will tell you to take it off if you're wearing one in some areas. Though, from what I've been told that was more 10 years ago rather than now.

Ya. I think the Nebraska one is rare and I know from when I used to flip sneakers that red is a VERY popular color. I guess I just didn't expect it to go that fast. I took the hat from my buddy when we were in school. His uncle (who has tons of old Nebraska hats) had 5-10 of them and gave me one.

I'm just glad Addison mentioned the chief wahoo big logo a while back or it would have been sold in my next garage sale.

I also find nothing but junk in my thrift stores, never found any sports stuff of any kind, no sports equipment, no cards, no jerseys, nothing gone to 5 different stores at least a dozen times each and nothing, and I go looking for stuff for myself for a bargain.

Awesome, congrats! Good thing you didn't sell it at that garage sale, no way you would've gotten that for it! It's a great hobby and very addicting. Plus it's nice to have a hobby where you MAKE money instead of lose a lot!

This question is for TwinGnats and Addison since you guys seem to know the most about this (or at least post the most). How long do you typically sit on items that you've purchased? I know that you want to have a decent eBay inventory just so that you are having constant sales, but what is the average time that an item sits in your store?

I don't have ridiculous storage space (nor do I want to keep a bunch of things) so I'm just curious that way I know how many items I should expect to hold at one time.

Thanks guys!!!

This is no way of knowing and largely depends on the item. I've had something sell in 30 minutes, and have other stuff that's over a year old.

Ebayer for fellow Thrifters to block.

swaggy2015 put in offers on clothing items then soon as they were accepted submitted a request to cancel transaction and said they changed their mind.

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up.

Someone just offered me a whopping $15 for the Charlotte Hornets Vintage Champion shorts. I know I can get much more than that on them. I have a feeling I can grab $25 minimum with them

15 isn't a bad offer if it's not free shipping. Most seem to go from 10 to 20. If it were me I'd probably take it but I typically accept offers even if they're lower than I was hoping. The way I look at it I'd rather have the profit than have it sitting in my closet and hoping for a couple bucks more. Good luck with all your sales!
