2019-20 Panini Chronicles Basketball- Pre-release Thread

With second year cards becoming a thing and people still wanting Luka, Bron Giannis etc I'm not even sure if draft class matters anymore.

Semi-Chronicles related, thought I'd post this here too(also posted in the Illusions thread).

So, after all this time...(and "they" wait till it's Illusions, haha) I finally got to see some of the stuff others talk about. Showed up at Walmart and the MJ guy was coming across the store with his boxes. I got to the shelf before he did and noticed a bunch of empty spaces and "New" tags up. I sort of stood back to see what exactly was happening as there were already 2 guys there waiting. He opens his box and pulls out maybe 5-10 football blasters and a few cellos of football. Closes his box, walks away. Again, I'm watching from afar, just to see what happens. The two guys who were there stand and talk a bit and the MJ guy comes back over(in his street close this time). Him and one of the other guys go walking towards the exit and the MJ guy goes in a side door(think Walmart uses it for grocery pick up) and comes back out with...a full cart of Illusions and maybe 8 chronicles blasters. They go outside, other guy hands MJ guy cash and takes the cart. Ha!

To make the story even weirder, I go back inside to see exactly what football he had put out. When I do, the other guy is still standing there with a blank stare. I'm wondering what he's doing...then I see a Walmart employee come up with 5-6 boxes of basketball. She hands it to him, he hands her cash and then he goes to check out.

Never thought it'd get to my small town. But, it has! Just odd to me that they waited till ILLUSIONS! ILLUSIONS man, haha...to do what they're doing. No more retail for me it seems!

Blasters getting under or around $50 are a great buy opportunity for anyone who wants to hold sealed wax for a few months. Also a good buy opportunity for those looking to bust, since you're probably looking at a 60% return with the singles at least.

yup. BO is BUYING these at $50, so at the very least you know you're going to make 50% once retail dries up and they set the price. Basically if you think it's not a good buy, you're saying that BO doesn't know what they're doing when it comes to wax prices

I see this all the time and I know it's mostly just an expression, but are most people's CC bills really due at the end of the month? Mine is due typically on the 12th of each month.

I just stopped in for a check.


Some football that I think was there last week... so I casually asked the lady running the register if the cards have been stocked. Her response was forcefull... and kinda funny.


"No I don't know... but I do know that they have been in meetings all week"

Me "meetings huh"?


Her "Yea... we get alott of hoarders"


Me "Yea they are becoming a hot commodity... welp I'll check back later have a good one"



Her "just stares at me like I am the scum of the earth.



Had to chuckle on the walk out. It's not that big of a deal but i wonder if I am the 12th person to ask... (some of them short of teeth... some of them in 12 thousand dollar sneakers with lined up with precision hair cuts)

I regularly check the 3 Walmarts close to me and the vendor never comes at the same day/time to any of them.

Staff are really starting to get annoyed with me, and everyone else, asking if the vendor came today. Lol

Nice!. Got two blasters for $45 each. Bought a lot of illusions and the seller messaged me and we did a side deal of Chronicles...six blasters and 9 fat packs for $415 shipped which came out to 46.50 for the blasters and $15 for the fat packs. A little more than I would like to pay for the fat packs outside of eBay but I thought the total package was a good deal.

Nice pick up! Snagged 2 mega boxes @ $160 per this morning. Thought that was a great price to hold them at.

Some up for 150 that I saw, but I see this dropping a bit more...probably wrong lol

Here is a TIP for newbies and anybody else really:

To know if the market is bullish or bearish go to your eBay and check the Best offers summary especially those that were declined, and check the prices they are now Vs the offer you made and was declined.

I've had to cut down on searches because I'm sitting on too much right now, I was putting down blanket bids on lots @ $1-1.10/card and won quite a few. Did happen to win a couple decent ones yesterday though: Lot of 5 Hangers @$33/ea shipped, Lot of 2 Blaster 2 Hanger 8 Cello for $210 ($.81/card)

Nothing crazy, but picked up 10 blasters at $50 per. These will go in my closet with my other 40 blasters, 35 hangers, and 50 fat packs that I'm holding. Just about all were bought on the secondary market or from my siblings, so I wasn't single-handedly wiping out retail stores.

What is everyone expecting future values for sealed blasters, hangers and cellos will be?

I see Mosaic cellos and Optic 2 packs selling for about $60-65 in my area now (Canada).

I would wait on an answer from someone with more expertise than me. I have always been under the impression that sealed wax is a good hold, hence these going into a dark corner of my closet for a year or so. 18-19 Chronicles prices have been through the roof. I am not holding out hope that these hit those levels, but I think that shows what prices are possible after 1 year.

Might have overpaid slightly but was happy to pick up about a dozen blasters for $45/per. Haven't had any problems losing boxes to the depths of my closet. Have you been stashing away some stuff?

On eBay.. Do you have a link to those?

If the prices go lower I will just cost. avg down. I did the same with Mosiac products and had good success with it. Figured I would take those proceeds and hold some of this.

Lowest I’ve seen on eBay is 160 and that was snatched up instantly. BO bounty on Megas is 175 so that is where the market is set right now.

Great experience today! Went to my honey hole around stocking time and the rep is already there, aisle blockaded by carts while she sets up before she lets the wolves in so I wait, and while I wait two other hunters show up and we agree to split the loot. Probably 10 minutes go by, rep is wrapping up and a group of 4 guys roll up on the adjacent aisle eyeballing the cards, see us waiting and come up.

One guy asks us if we are waiting in line for cards, we nod and then, I kid you not, reads something from his phone, looks up and asks "Do y'all know if they will have any Prizm basketball?" I couldn't believe it, but I replied "No, don't think so, we are all waiting on baseball and football cards". They all looked at each other and then left the store. The rep finished up minutes later and let us in.

This place hadn't been stocked in 3 weeks and was loaded. The other guys were more interested in the boxed product so they split most of the Chronicles blasters, I got a couple and we each got handful of hangers. Illusions was also there and I got 5 blasters and 5 fat packs. These guys weren't as interested in the Chronicles fat packs though, so I was able to snag quite a few...



Final Count:

6x Chronicles Hanger
2x Chronicles Blaster
5x Illusion Blaster
5x Illusion Fat Pack
