Mr. Cartoon took Clemente’s images completely off his card, so why not? Shore drew McGwire as an animal. OMA at least has Thomas on his card, as well as with all players so far. His vision of the project is different than yours, Topps chose him not you. His vision works really well with the older cards, not so much with the modern cards. Just don’t buy it if you don’t like it. My Clemente set is going to be 18 cards at most.

Great effort from Rochester in this one. It is definitely a good looking card / typography and background. Love the yellow fade to chartreuse?

Rochester was my least favorite artist through the first 100 cards.
He has done a complete 180 since and is now one of my favorites. Stellar Teddy Ballgame |

Oh wow, Jacob Rochester has really gone over-the-top sentimental with his last 3 '50s cards (Gibson, Clemente, this one). This will look great next to the Andrew Thiele plaster bust card.
It's so fun to see the evolution of Shore, Oldmanalan, Rochester, JK5 over the course of the set. It's like a playoff series and Jacob Rochester is Tyler Herro, stepping up his game to drop 3s from everywhere. |

Rochester's Jackie Robinson could be an absolute masterpiece with the way he's going

I know this will be an unpopular opinion but that hasn't stopped others from sharing so here goes...
Let me preface by saying my favorite cards were Siff Ripken, Taylor Henderson and a couple Efdot cards... That said, as I get closer to the reality of filling a few wall panels in our entertainment room with 20-card runs, I'm admittedly drawn to freaking Joshua Vides because of the consistency and subtle standout appeal his set will have. I was/am doing runs of Mays, Henderson, Efdot, Taylor. I'm not sure they're all going to end up on my walls though. Mays and Efdot will likely end up displayed as I want to have one player with all 20 artist renditions as more of a conversation piece for the entire project. I like the Mays run and think it will display well and appreciate the original card. Now... Outside of those two... Artists that have maintained enough consistency and adherence to the original card design that an average baseball card fan would recognize the aim of the project with little explanation required: Vides Naturel Ermsy (for the most part) Shore (for the most part) jk5 Fucci (kinda) Maybe I'm missing one or two but most of the other artists took some serious creative license - which is crazy cool for collecting singles and breathes life into a potentially drab set. Of those, the two that are the MOST consistent and call back to the original cards are Vides and Naturel. The Vides Jackie really pops in hand. The Trout, as well. And in a frame, I have no doubts that his 20-card run will look the best to traditionalists and baseball card collectors who have little idea what Project 2020 is all about. I don't think Vides will be the artist that retains the most value but I suspect there will be more 20-card Vides runs showing up in various displays at homes/small businesses than any other artist, save for maybe Ermsy (well done) and Shore (fun & quirky). |

that makes sense, as all of Vides' cards were done in about an hour

I can see where Oliroller is coming from in regards to OMAs cards being sought out for PCs and people who are looking to collect cards and they themselves are removed from the "Collecting Project 2020" attitudes.
OMAs cards look great, and if you ignore that his artistic abilities are: "He just took a photo and put graphics on it and made the border beige!" thats not anything more or less than what employees of topps are doing right now. Except they also take baseball card and make the border 8 different colors, and with each color swatch application the Value doubles. |

The Williams isn't bad, not a fan of the Gwynn at all. Something about the face is weird. Easy pass on both

What's funny is at the start I thought Thiele would def be my fav and Shore it was like what on earth is this. Now Shore is one of my fav, and I don't really like Thiele anywhere near as much.

Basically John, your take is correct. I am a numbers and patterns guy. I like to think I can appreciate art, and I will say again that there has to be a baseline for this. The iconic card was the baseline and other than the player, oma is disrespecting this. Not all cards. The Clemente was just a great take and a few others as well. Frank Thomas is my collection piece, and I think oma disrespected the the project. I also think others have done the same. I don't like the Trout Haircut card either. I don't like the Fucci Williams. Horizontal vs. Vertical doesn't bother me. I see the argument as all 1955 were horizontal layouts, but I am fine with a reimagining the positions. The 1984 Mattingly by Jamieson has been my favorite for "reimagining" by swapping the images. Simple, but beautiful. I also like the Shore Mattingly. I am old and stubborn. I try, but I fail. Let's move along until oma screws with my Henderson collection

I didn't like the Shore Gibson Pirate so I turned away. Then I realized I wanted it for the Gibson complete run and its $200. I bought extra of the Brett by Fucci because I figured it would be short print. That seems to be accurate.
