Since the top Superfractor was just recently pulled, prices will eventually go down imo... though the first week or so they will prob rise slightly... id def sell around call up time if it was me...

I know this is a dying thread now that he is called up.
It seems like his ref gems hit a peak of about $1300 at call up, then a low of about $900 after the rough opener. Since, I see them now climbing back up to $1200.
I am curious if people think his '13 cards have a chance to continue to rise or will be on a steady downfall unless he wins ROY.

all depends on how he plays my friend.

He is already doing great. If he continues to do great and adds in a home run streak. watch out..

Thanks Dave.
I have one and I am curious if I should "gamble" by selling now and hopefully buying later or just holding.
My goal in the end is to have one for the PC, but passing up a possible $300-500 (assuming it could be bought for $700 at low during the season) seems hard right now...

The odds and what typically happens, is the price will go down. I would even venture to say it is much safer to cash in now and wait for prices to go down and you can buy your PC one then. But then you are gambling on him not keeping up or picking up his current pace of play.

Either way you are gambling on his play so you just have to put faith in how you believe he will play.

I'm hanging onto mine. Don't want to risk him being the next huge prospect to explode then lose out on having one. Up to what you want to do. I'm a Cubs fan so it's a little nearer and dearer to my heart and I got in at $225 value on my 2013 Base Chrome Auto.

Yeah, I understand. I got in low for a gem too.
I have done this once before, when I sold my Trout Blue BGS 9/10 for $550 after picking it up for $150.
Of course, at the time I thought no other person, other than Pujols, had a refractor over $300...We all know how that went.

Less than a month later, with ZERO homers (which is what the buyers were thinking he was going to hit every game) the last 2013 /500 9.5 got 988. Should have sold people if you were going to, take a profit when you see one.

54 AB's, 19 K's, 0 HR's .278 Avg Not the superman start people expected out of ST. MLB pitching is quite different. Card values appear to be dropping slowly as anticipated.

.418 OBP

11 RBI in 15 games

not saying he hasn't exactly tore it up since his debut, but its fun to cherry pick

it's a taylor swift world man, haters gon' hate. he's actually been better than most people imagined minus the power and the cubs are winning. but ur still gonna have people (mostly who didn't buy him) who don't think .418 OBP and almost an RBI per game are good enough, lol.

and btw, the power is gonna come. that's 100% and when it does, there will literally be nothing left to say except, "it's not like he's trout, it's not like he's mantle or mays" lol.

I am a novice card collector, usually just players, on my teams, for my son to have some day.

I wanted a Bryant card over a year ago but never moved on it.

My question is, is this card peaking right now, making it better to wait. I think everyone assumes he will be ROY already, but he is not doing great in the playoffs so far.

Since $100 is usually my top budget, should I get now or wait until season is over. I am not seeing anything new that should drive the prices any higher at this point.

At $100, what would be the best card for me to look for.

Thanks

I personally think you should wait till after thanksgiving. Another opportunity might be the slim time if they get kicked out of playoffs and awards have not been announced.

For only 100, I would look for a refractor of his 14 non-auto. As far as autos you might find a cheaper 15 auto that is more produced.

Unless he has a dramatic playoff rebound, card prices are only going to fall in the near future.

There are no shortages anymore for Bryant Autos especially if you are willing to accept a RC versus his autos from last year. Like others have said just wait until November / December and you should be able to pick one up for $100-200 maybe cheaper for the USA cards.

They won't fall much further (Talking 13 BC). Especially if the Cubs can continue with any playoff run. They started to creep back up as he ended the regular season with a strong performance.
