2020 Topps Factory Set Thread

Went back to Walmart to see if they were still there since I picked one up yesterday and didn’t get a parallel set. The other 5 were still there so I grabbed another. Hit the gold star set. Happy now!

It's the unknown and gambling mentality...the possibility of pulling a parallel set or a Robert chrome variation. Part of it is what one believes in this year's rookie class...I'm in your camp in not believing this year's class to be as strong as last year's or even close to 2018. With the hike in grading modern cards, the math is starting to work against grading the base too. We are looking at probably 100-125K base Robert cards from the factory set with probably 75-85% gem mint possibilities on top of the pack pulled ones...and that's only if one believes Robert is top 10 material for the next 10 years. The rest of this year's class I'm not big on (can't see Bichette or Lux hitting 30-35 hrs a year or being .300+ average hitters annually which is what you need from middle INFs). But perhaps there is enough of an interest in Robert to still drive the sales of the sets...despite having a horrible September, every product that comes out people are looking for the Robert card from that product. Values of past years (such as foilboards of Acuna, Torres, Soto and others or numbered chrome variations) are in people's minds this year as they hope to pull a Robert or others in hopes of this year's players would reach the values of the big rookies from the last two years.

I bought a purple factory set and did NOT get a chrome rookie variant... Has this happened to anyone else? Was the chrome card located in the set, or separate pack?

This happens from time to time. Last year I had some with two as well.

Contact them, and maybe they will send you a leftover Kikuchi from last year.

Like everyone, I’m trying the websites to get one Walmart green and one Target purple.
But what I’m really waiting for is someone to start breaking sets on eBay. (I’m chasing variations of a single card from S1 (#325 Cubs Celebrate Schwarber walk-off) so I’d like to pick-up the star/orange/blue/foilboard/retail-foil variations.)

Is anyone keeping track of how many orange/blue sets are popping up? I've personally seen more blue than orange.

At what point do you think we can make a determination of which is /299 and which is /99?

Gotta be blue 299 and orange 99. The 1/1's will be rainbow camo holofoil reverse chrome parallels.

You're giving them too much credit. I'm positive we will all be somewhat underwhelmed when that set drops.

I'm betting a color like green or something for the 1/1's.

I guess its a great move by Topps to drive sales on sets but I sure wish WM and TAR had exclusive color parallels in the packs like back in the day. Makes sense though as they certainly aren't having any trouble moving retail packs.
