I mean less than a year ago I was buying Jokic prizm rookies for $15. And that was post- COVID bump. Jokic's career at that time>>>>>>>Shai's career now. So from the perspective of today's market, no they shouldn't be worth $8-10 because they could become a $200 card like jokic prizm. But $8-10 isn't egregious from the perspective of a year ago.

The way I see it is that cards are viewed in two ways these days, either as stocks or collectibles. If you view them as a stock, $8-10 is ridiculous but if you view them as a collectible $8-10 may even be overpriced.

One more question about the SGA prizm RC. For some reason I just noticed that it doesn’t have “RC” printed on the card. Why? Are there other Rookies in 18-19 prizm without the RC symbol?

Must've not been on COMC. Whoever sold you those got fleeced. They were like $30 for a minute and then bumped to $60-70

I just checked my records, I bought a lot of 9 in Summer 2019 for $112 (~$12 each), sold them at various price points between $25 and $40 in May/June of 2020, which is when older years of Prizm exploded. so yeah $15-20 in March/April sounds realistic

Can't believe they were that cheap. Not sure how I missed that. Although I do remember when they were .10 cents at one point and I was so happy to sell them for $3 each.

My point is simply that there's a huge difference in these cards' perception now. Basketball cards are now absolutely widely viewed as an alternative form of gambling/investment. And by a lot of people. A lot more people than before. That's why Jokic's prizm base values spiked, and that's why Shai's aren't $8-10.

What's baked into prices now is that these cards are now viewed as stocks that we can put our monetary value into and can increase in value easily and rapidly. These aren't just collectibles anymore for Shai/Thunder fans. It makes no sense to pay $40 for a shai Prizm base unless what you're purchasing with that $40 is also the potential that after a week of excellent play or an all star selection that card instantly becomes an $80 card.

There's a lot of implications with that, some good and some bad, but it's where we are.

I think panini just screwed the pooch on the RC shield. Not sure how many others they missed.

I'm not sure about any other rookies missing the RC, but I do know that Josh Hart and Milos Teodosic have the RC symbol erroneously since they were rookies in 2018-19. Just Panini quality control at its finest.

SGA is nice. But his 3 ball shot release is so slow, I wonder if that limits a hard ceiling on him. I don't see him being any more than a CJ McCollum type.
