For someone who loves how China is run so much you should live there. Isn't that what the righties say when the left wants to tear up the constitution?

You want to replicate it. Once we get manufacturing how do you plan to keep it competitive? Make the consumer pay the cost forever? I assume it would just be easier to remove all labor laws. You're trying to protect a job that gets done in a different country for 30 cents.

Tariffs do not level the playing field - they hurt the consumer, as WE pay it - not the importing country.

Not even close. China cheats, they devalue their currency, they use slave and child labor. They are brutal. I dont like that we are encouraging and literally financing their behavior. I am saying we should be making every effort we can to decouple ourselves from China, we should never have got into bed with them in the first place.

You guys must not go back too far. You started watching the game in the 2nd half, but didn't realize your team already lost it in the first.

Poor, poor Rudy.

I thought Trump only surrounded himself with the best and winners.

The 5 million jobs lost due to poor policy were most definitely not minimal or minimum wage.

Even the Wendy's and McDonald's around here pay $12/hr to start. You can put garage doors and windows together for $18-$20/hr.

Have you ever been to mainland China? I would imagine the answer is no

You need to stop blaming administrations for allowing China to thrive - it is multifaceted with the largest driver being consumers.

USA is a net consumer and our buying power is huge - however, people low cost of goods. Not one single person on this thread / board can definitively say all the items they buy are made in the USA.
It is not feasible.

Well, yeah. Thanks for the situation report.

So, now what? What's the solution?

Lol so you are afraid of an old maskless lady but not rioters burning down your city?? Makes sense.

I wonder how some people in here make it through the day without having a panic attack or jumping off a bridge.

I have NO idea where you get 5 million jobs lost (well, maybe I have an idea)

Bureau of labor numbers:

https://data.bls.gov/timeseries/CES3000000001

And job creation by year:

I understand you want to believe everything the POTUS tells you - but the data does not support any of it.

yes i have and setup mfg plant there that was closed after 3 yrs. China is good for mfg simple high volume labor intensive items. It is clear most posters dont know much about mfg and make some assumptions based upon whatever they read and have never been in mfg plants.

Wait...cities were burned down? Is this the "suburbs will be totally destroyed" I keep seeing in Trump ads?

Dang, I must've missed it. All I saw was a few burning police cars and some broken windows.

You’re still not answering the initial question. Let’s say Nike pays its workers 30 cents an hour to hit a button to make Nike air forces. How do we bring that back to america?

The two aren't so dissimilar as they might seem when only distributed at a base level. Capitalism and market efficiencies can still exist in a world with UBI, depending on policy.

That's an ideological debate for later maybe. I don't mean to derail the current dialogue.
