Nobody is distancing themselves from Trump; Trump is running ahead of nearly all Republican senators in all races (something he was not doing in '16). JG trying to make up a narrative. McSally and Gardner have long odds; every other race can break either way based on turnout. Red would be wise to run w/ Trump in states that voted Trump in '16.

I was asking as it appears McConnell has been quietly doing this, Sasse allowed himself to be taped on his comments.

I was not making up a narrative, just asking for a discussion.

Judging by the response, you do not see the GOP distancing themselves from Trump.

I wanted to see the China Bag Man struggle through answering some questions about him and his cozy relationshipwith them, but I guess the commission decided it would be too risky to have Joe respond.

(And no, they're not distancing. In fact, the only one distancing is Trump, from Collins in ME because she's awful and I can't stand her and Trump likely got my fan mail).

Sasse has been distancing himself from Trump basically since 2016. That's nothing new. It's not posturing, it's just Sasse standing up for what he believes.

I did not link them due to the fact I would get criticized for "fake" news here.

Also, I don't like Collins either. Being from Maine myself - she has not done much of anything to help them in the last several years.

Going down the interstate yesterday I see a TRUMP 2020 motorcade on the other side. Probably 50 vehicles with flags proudly flying. Love to see it.

So long as their sourced (and not, a person who knows Trump's thinking blah blah blah), the articles can be quite informative. WSJ is overall good and NYT is overall madness but they have some excellent pieces once in a while.

The graph you linked showed that while Europe is on a very very bad trajectory, they did in-fact "flatten the curve" and are experiencing the "second peak"

Meanwhile the USA never even got close to flattening a curve as the baseline of infection appears to not drop below 20,000 / day (or very close) where as Europe was running along at 3500 - 4000 for a month +

We never got this thing under anything close to control - and the numbers tell the story.

If you look at the map of the country across the last seven months, no area is getting hit a second time. The fact of the matter is that everyone is going to get their turn, no matter what you do. First the NE had it rough, then then Sun Belt, how we're hitting the midwest and the more open states like the Dakota's and Montana's of the world... then it will be California.

The story is that no matter your policy and no matter your mask mandate and no matter your objective; the virus will spread to you eventually. That is and always has been the story. It's unfortunate but there's no trying to suggest anything else. Red States, Blue States, whatever... everyone gets their turn.

Take the deaths in any state, multiply by 400. That's how many true infections a state likely has and when that number exceeds ~45% of the population of said state, herd immunity starts to become a reality. Until then, the virus will continue to virus.
