Sucks for baseball.
Braves starting to make it fair for the rest of the NL East; no Strider and now no Acuña

Hold if you prefer your cards lose value and you don’t like to buy them back cheaper down the line

It was the other knee that caused him to miss time in spring training.

He did not die.
He is 26 years old.

I like your positivity TBP but he has two torn ACLs in his medical history while in the prime of his career. Not many players can withstand missing prime years and solidify a lasting legacy Ted Williams being one of them and his time missed wasn't due to injury.

Card value wise just like they didn't blow up last season with that fantastic season I don't see them absolutely cratering this off season either at least not the most expensive high end RC Auto stuff because anybody holding that stuff will just sit on it and those that do sell will have it priced high with BIN knowing they can just sit on it and know he will be ok in the long term. There is absolutely no reason to be jumping off bridges as Acuna high end holders. The low end numbered stuff like ( Easter Parallels and flagship colored foil) type stuff sure but those aren't what most people are looking for anyhow.

That said his most important and wanted stuff is going to stay stagnant until he puts up multiple back to back seasons like last season.

Problem is, people aren’t looking for fine. They are looking for 2023+ form. Two ACLs is not good. Took him a year to get back to shape after the last one. I wouldn’t expect differently this time.

Ted Williams is long dead. Sadly, most of todays people do not care about him.

im just saying if you like Acuna, and you like collecting, there is no reason not to continue to do so.

So he comes back next season a little rusty and wins MVP the following season? Just like last time? Sounds great to me.

This is what everyone always says and is never true. I expect a 30-50% decline on big cards through the end of this calendar year. Only thing that helps that number is that his stuff has already taken a massive hit this year thanks to his subpar play. PSA 10 BCA sold for $2855 on 2/29. Last sale was $1675 on 4/29.

You're right, he's not playing anymore and neither is Acuna this year and if his injury track record persists, serious doubt comes into play as far as his legacy. These prices are built on a HoF projection. Why pay at elevated prices for collecting purposes if the house of cards come down because of yet another injury?

There was def something going on to make him move and play worse than 2022. I’m obviously super bummed but think this could be something the team uses for motivation.

Move worse? How? He was running just fine.

Nothing about his play suggested there was a lingering issue in his left knee. And that is what you claimed. The spring training issue was the other leg.

He was getting picked off left and right. I watched every single game this year and he was playing like something wasn’t right.

Getting picked off has nothing to do with running. His base running was just fine. His chasing down balls was just fine. Diving back to first is a right thing.

This injury had nothing to do with his spring training injury. There's was nothing about his play that suggested anything was wrong with the left knee. I've watched every game too.

Uggghhhhh this sucks so much. What a disappointing season as a Braves fan.

I need to sleep and think some, but it might be time to let most of my Acuna PC go. I was already not liking how invested I was in Acuna's performance this season. It distracted from just having fun watching my favorite team play baseball. And not because I need his cards to maintain value for any reason. I'd be fine financially if a fire burned down my entire collection. But there have been a lot of rare Delgado cards pop up on ebay in the past 6 months or so, and it'd be really nice to be able to grab more of them. They're only getting more expensive too.

Either way, I hope Acuna comes back in around another year and dominates the game again. And if that happens I just enjoy it for baseball's sake. I'll continue loving collecting, just try to stick to retired players from now on haha.
