Why even call an eBay rep anymore? They have a chat box and twitter. @askebay always responds back and has helped me numerous times; same with the reps that service the chat box.

If you don't like talking to someone who isn't from the US, which really just means someone with an accent, then you have options.

So on one hand, good news. But in regards to those two cards, I'm pretty bummed to see the listings yanked.
Same for me

ebay doesnt care about shilling, they have known about it for years and thry didnt ban any other consignor that does it. They are peeved that PWCC wanted to make their own auction site. There were holding the shilling allegations just for this occasion.

It's gotta be one of these two.

Completely agree with the PWCC Super Fans in here. It wasn’t because of the shill bids. That’s just smoke. Much larger news to come. Brent probably isn’t sleeping well right now.

PWCC has been a pillar of the hobby for so many years, providing value to clients with their innovative products like Vault. I remember when Vault launched years ago there were people on this forum claiming that it was a scam and that they would never use it. Today Vault is trusted by tens of thousands of PWCC customers to hold hundreds of millions of dollars worth of collectables. PWCC did something that the naysayers said was impossible, and in doing so they provided great value to their customers. Kudos for PWCC for their innovation and ingenuity.

Pay close attention to the Ebay email - every word in it was written by the Ebay legal department, no doubt the top harlots that money can buy.

"Recently, it was determined that individuals associated with a trading card seller, PWCC, have engaged in “shill bidding,”"

"individuals associated with a trading card seller" means folks consigning their cards to PWCC, not employees of PWCC, or Ebay would have said so upfront. "Shill bidding" is absolutely rampant on Ebay from all sellers, and Ebay hardly lifts a finger to stop it. PWCC has its own internal checks to stop shilling, but stopping it completely is impossible with Ebay's business model. I would trust a PWCC auction to not be shilled far more than an auction from an average Joe. Yes, there have been a few examples of PWCC auctions being shilled, but when you run tens of thousands of auctions, there are going to be a few bad apple consignors. It's inevitable.

Today's actions by Ebay have nothing to do with protecting the community or stopping shilling. They are about an illegal monopoly shutting out an innovator that threatens their entrenched business model which is starting to show cracks. Ebay believes that 100% of commissions should belong to them alone, and they raise fees year after year. Ebay decided long ago to stop being a collectable auction site and transition to a retail site for high-margin junk merchandise. The hobby has had enough with it, and that's why PWCC and others have started to have success. Nobody is going to pay 12% to sell their collectables in the future, that is why Ebay has no future.

It's ironic that today's actions by Ebay will only hasten their demise. PWCC will now move full steam ahead to launching their own platform. I look forward to working with PWCC in the future. They have proven themselves to be a great platform with a superior customer experience. So let's have a toast today to the future of PWCC, the hobby, and the impending death of Ebay as a collectable auction platform.

Haha that’s about the best way I’ve seen it summed up.

Don’t know if anyone has brought this up, but maybe this is the beginning of eBay starting their own card consignment business. Send them to us, we’ll list it for you and have fancy high res listings with lots of exposure like PWCC did.

Brent (PWCC) = scum
Joe Orlando (PSA) = scum
Ken Goldin (Goldin) = scum
Brian Gray (Leaf) = scum
Joe Clemons (Eagle Eye)/Beckett (BGS) = scum
Dave Thorn (Small Traditions) - scum
Countless trimmers, shillers, all around liars and awful people that BODA has called out

Nat Turner - wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be the biggest scum of all.

If you've been in the card game long enough, you start to see patterns. The guys at the top of the hobby in terms of money and action, or whatever you want to call it, are usually very suspect people and have been doing shady stuff forever, usually working with each other. How do you think they got to the "top" of this "hobby". I would say I'm a very casual collector. There are much smarter, longer term members of this community that know way more than I do, but I still see it. Don't trust any of these people. We all play the game anyway and most of us are aware of these people. That's why it can never be taken too seriously.

They aren’t Amazon so I doubt they are going that route

The best hobby institution I know is BO. Agree about the hobby institutions you mentioned, they all try to make $$$ by making the hobby into something it can’t **honestly** be on its own.

https://www.pwccmarketplace.com/faq

Updated FAQ, kinda sums up what I have heard through the grapevine. PWCC has been building an auction site completely seperate from ebay, which they intended to launch late this year/early next year. Ebay got wind and told them to kick rocks. PWCC says, "F you, we are going on our own anyway"
