We in here talkin' bout Adam Dunn? Adam Dunn?!! In the HOF?! Mods please delete this, this MUST be a joke, or is this just Adam Dunn spamming us all in hopes to gain HOF consideration amongst fans?

Dunn is the current version of Dave Kingman; he could hit 650 homers and never make the hall

Dunn is a two outcome hitter (HR/strikeout) and a horrible defensive player. How would you possibly think he'd be a candidate for the hall?

The way I look at it, if someone is going in to the hall, who would you take out of the hall in his place? For Dunn, there is no one.

Forget "Donkey", he needs to be called 'One Trick Pony' and no, he wasn't getting in regardless. Plus, how could "he ruin his chances"? It was a trade, he didn't leave by choice.

Far be it from me to defend Adam Dunn, but to be fair, he is a three outcome player (HR/K/BB).

Kingman...yes. Great comparison. And when Kingman was winding down his career people worried he'd make it to 500 homeruns. But if Dunn somehow hit 650 homeruns, he would sail into the Hall (assuming the 650 HRs were achieved without Viagra or any other performance enhancers).

I think the retiring announcement is what he meant by ruining. Dunn ruined his chances ages ago however...

Gotcha, makes much more sense. Not that he would have made it either way but the "ruined his chances" angle.

I don't care if he makes it, I love Dunn. He's such a great person to the game and clubhouse guy. Met him twice and he was so down to earth. Quite an actor too!

See, this is why Brian Downing should be in the Hall too. Great actor.

So you all think it is that crazy?

According to baseball reference, through age 33 season, his most comparable players are:

Harmon Killebrew (872) *
Jose Canseco (864)
Jim Thome (858)
Reggie Jackson (856) *
Rocky Colavito (855)
Andruw Jones (841)
Dale Murphy (834)
Boog Powell (822)
Greg Luzinski (815)
Mike Schmidt (811) *

Mike Schmidt (811) *
Which also shows how unique he is. 872 isn't really that similar. These players added more seasons beyond age 33. Trouble is, if his career ends now his most similar list looks like this:

Dave Kingman (903)
Greg Vaughn (884)
Rocky Colavito (863)
Jack Clark (847)
Jose Canseco (846)
Frank Howard (843)
Norm Cash (837)
Roy Sievers (833)
Ron Gant (826)
Andruw Jones (824)

Yuck.

Last time I checked the BO community doesn't vote. I could care less about him getting into the Hall but most of you just piggyback on previous posts with no intelligent point at all. It's ruining these boards and why I rarely post every unless I am trying to sell a gift card or buy Christian Yelich cards.

Then leaves the boards, or don't bother opening threads that don't interest you, like this one.

I deem this topic discussion worthy!

He's a 1 tool player.
Not enough for the hall of fame

He is a well liked team mate.
He ain't getting in though.

You posted a legit question ( a guy reaching 500 HR club absolutely has to be considered for Cooperstown.) but then followed it with crap. A smiley face and a saracastic answer to your own question that seems generated from public forum pressure.. LOL.

Yes, because I'm really worried about public forum pressure LOL. Dunn was like Dung pretty much.
