So many sets come out in December. They must think trading cards make good stocking stuffers.

Oh God. Damn. It.

I've been waiting years for a Star Wars release like this. I'm so broke...

The pen cards are bizarre, but this set sounds awesome! New prop cards, yay!

Thanks, Topps, for putting Star Wars and Doctor Who sets in the same month.

Agreed (!) This is a huge problem for me, as I love both, so I'll either have to do a split order on both or go all in on one...

Autographs are the main hit of this product, they're listed first in the sell sheet. I'm not a dealer looking to rip and flip, so as a consumer I'm looking at spending $200 on a box and getting 16 base cards and 4 hits.

Here's a potential break:

1. an auto from Mike Quinn or Anthony Forrest or Tim Rose or a puppeteer who was in the movies for about 30 seconds.
2. a USPS postage stamp worth $0.41
3. part of a pen! wow, wonder if it's a bic or pilot?
4. A B&W sketch by Ramos

This is a very Roy-ish comment. If ya don't like then don't buy it. More for the rest of us.

So is a case 12 boxes and $2,400? I have said previously prices are getting out of hand on cards.

"Every eight-box case will include one silver-framed autograph, seven other on-card autos, eight sketch cards and three Relics..."

I don't get what you mean by "Roy-ish". My point is, appears to be made on the cheap and if Topps wants to make a high end product then put some premium items in it. Not cut up pens or a stamp which is part of a set you can buy online for $10.

How about relic auto cards? Or a redemption for oversized relics? Perhaps shadowbox cards, those have never been done in a Star Wars set. Take a cue from kenner, an early bird redemption for an episode 7 relic or auto that can be shipped in mid to late 2015. It would take more work on Topps' part but that justifies the higher price-point.

You guys crack me up. If you don't like it, then don't buy it!! Simple as that really. I dislike a lot of what Topps does, but quite honestly Chrome and ROTJ were two of my fav' sets of the last 5 yrs in regards to SW. This sounds like it'll be a gamble, but buying card boxes instead of singles is always a gamble. It's part of the fun.

I don't think everybody was saying they don't like it. I think elements look great, but I think some discussion on cost and value is merited, or else it just becomes an exchange of bland platitudes.

What's funny is that with even your worse break scenario I still see 150$-200$. This base and base parallels should sell nicely with this set. Also their should be a plate every case - 2 cases, with this product being limited.

I am wondering what the acetate /25 look like.

Also keep in mind $200 is msrp, if you have a good relationship with any dealers/distributors you won't be paying $200 a box

It cracks me up seeing the extremes on both sides.

All the price complaining is kind of funny. How is this any less value than buying a $50-70 box with 1 common sketch card and nothing else, or a $110-130 Chrome box with 1-2 OK hits?
The entry point is higher on this but the resale value should also be higher.

I think many (myself included) who have been waiting for something high-end like this, wanted to see innovation. Something new and exciting. Does anyone see that here? Really? The fact that its a gamble doesn't bother me. It's more, what can you really pull that we haven't already seen? I expected more imagination.
