Looks like Florida State didn't cover!
Wow! Lots of very angry people I'd and very lucky people out there right now! |

I know they called it, but it still counts as an official game, and the stats are official. Would they really return bets for that? They wouldn't do that in a rained out baseball game, why do it for this?

This college is in my town and they usually get spanked by teams in their own division. The school is also near the heart of the ghetto and pretty run down so I am sure they could use the money. They do have a pretty decent baseball team though.

It's very rare to have a football game get rained out, but an official game is defined as 3 and 1/2 quarters. If it doesn't make it to 3 1/2 quarters, the bets are counted as a push and are refunded. Again, very rare in football, but not baseball. In baseball, it must go 5 1/2 innings to be official and once it's official, all bets count as action. Can help you, or it can screw you.
The other rarity is a tie score for a football game. It happens once every so often. In the 4 years I was betting in Reno, I saw a tie game once. I think it was the Bengals and Eagles in Week 11 of 2008. They DON'T count as a push on your bets and are official scores IIRC, which would mean the underdog bets would always win. Not sure how most other sports are treated by the books as far as weather is concerned. NBA is all indoors so it's not affected. Didn't bet the rest so not sure. |

I was at the game. Lightning can make for a super long game of delays and restarts. A single lightning occurence within 8 miles of the stadium starts a 30 minute delay. Every time lighting occurs the 30 minutes restarts.
The game was delayed in the 2nd quarter for an hour. The teams returned to finish the half. Halftime was shortened to 10 minutes. The teams took the field for one drive in the second half. The second half was on modified timing (the clock rain continuously). M My wife and I left during that delay. On the way home we heard the game was called. SSA looked to have half the number of players we have. FSU was sending in 3rd and 4the depth chart players in the 2nd quarter. I think FSU gets more experience in practice. The best player for SSA was their punter. He was built like a running back, not your typical looking punter. FSU scored four touchdowns in something like six minutes. Around 250 yards of offense halfway through the first quarter. |
