Is there some kind of policy against posting only links to sponsored Youtube videos? What is the difference from someone spamming their cards in the hobby talk section or spamming their revenue producing videos?!
Seriously, all TakatanakaGiant does is post his videos here, he makes almost no posts that don't involve talking about his sponsored videos on Youtube. |

I really enjoy the forums here. Am I as active on here as I am on Youtube? Definitely, no. Do I enjoy cards? Yes! Do I enjoy talking/reading about cards, AbsoFrickinLutely. I feel much more comfortable showing cards in a video rather than typing a long description. I also like to think my videos are entertaining too. What do you think? Are you upset because I don't post much? Not as active as you? I reply to the people that comment on my threads. I don't ignore people that take the time to type something up in response to my post. I enjoy conversing with people. Do you want to see spamming? I could post a link to every video I upload if that would feed your argument. But I won't because THAT's spamming. I'd love to do some trades on here and I've tried. Unfortunately, people feel a little apprehensive about shipping overseas to Japan. I don't blame them. So, I stick to Youtube because that's where I started and that's where I have the most friends (over 700 subscribers and dozens of trades). I've met some VERY cool people on this forum and I recently introduced a Youtuber to here. He's made some pretty big trades since I showed him Blowout. My videos are all monetized. That's my default. Would you feel more comfortable if I turned it off? I'd gladly do that. If the forums mods want me to turn them off, then that's fine too. You seem like a big guy here, although I've never communicated with you before. I respect the way you feel, but I don't intentionally come on here to blast a 15-second advertisement on my video. Are you monetized? If so, you'd know how very very little I get off of a video. If Youtube is willing to pay me for posting a mailday video (which I enjoy doing anyways) then sign me up! All of those "proceeds" goes straight back to free giveaways on my channel or as base cards to the kids in my community. You're just acting like a hall monitor behind a keyboard. Let's not pretend like you're any better than me or anyone else on here. To suggest that I come on here just to make an extra 20 cents is RIDONKULOUS. |

I don't even do videos, or monetize them for that matter. So, I have no idea what anyone makes off of them. I have heard that some people who have tons of Youtube subscribers actual do very well. From your explanation, it sounds like you are taking any proceeds and putting it back into content and that you truly are trying to expand your circle of friends and fellow collectors with your Youtube channel. As far as your videos go, they are actually quite good! The video and audio quality are as good as I have seen and I think it is great that you always start off with an unknown product from Japan, wether it is food or trading cards etc. That being said, there is another member here, Houdini, who makes tons of great videos, as Houdinicollector on Youtube, AND they are sponsored; but he participates to the site in so many other ways. I do not mind one bit that he makes a couple bucks off creating content for us to be entertained by. Maybe I am completely off base here but I feel like there has to be a balance though, which he achieves. He comments regularly on others posts, is a break hosting machine, and posts box and pack breaks of all kind. I would recommend posting some scans of your breaks, especially of the Japanese cards, now and again so people can get a closer look at the cards. Videos are nice but you cannot see details all that well. At the end of the day, this is not a big deal and it is kind of absurd that I even thought about complaining about it, I guess all our problems should be as bad mine! So, thats my two cents. You can take it or leave it and I hope I didn't make you upset. |

I bought 10 rip cards.
I basically broke even on one (Votto ext mini), up $90 on another (Koufax ext mini), and up $400 on this one: ![]() The others, I took a loss from $30 - $50, which to me still wasn't bad given the potential reward. I think all together I ended up about $150 after fees. Last edited by monkeymcgee; 08-05-2012 at 08:19 AM. Reason: typo |

Do you mind if I ask what rip card you pulled that from? Was it numbered out of 10 or 50? One of the people I'm subscribed to pulled a 1/1 wood of Ichiro out of a /50 rip card. Not sure if the chances of pulling a great card increase when the numbering on the rip card is smaller. |
