A full sheet complete with the promos (if you're wondering, the Wolverine promo sits on the 1995 Fleer Ultra Spider-Man Masterpieces insert uncut sheet...sadly I don't have that one )

No, it is known - they came in pairs of 6, side by side. Sadly, not mine, but a fellow collector has all 5.

Incredible stuff man! Great addition to the archive and solid info too.

I am blown away by the 94 Holofoil sheets. The brothers Hildebrandt sigs are a perfect touch.

I have never been lucky enough to land those silver Holofoil sheets. I would assign them a 5 rarity rating. I have a question for you- do you think the gold and bronze sheets take on the same format as the silver? Are there even gold and bronze sheets, have you ever seen them? I have never seen either.

The 95 Metal (test?) sheets are remarkable and never heard of them. The 95 Chromium sheet is on my list of next one to pick up Enjoying seeing new sheets, hope people will keep em coming!

Can you explain what you mean by that? I was always confused what that Wolverine thing at bottom right is. Sits on the uncut sheet?

Thanks Xiarmadillo!

I'm sure there are uncut sheets for the Gold and Bronze holofoils...I've never seen them though! If a collector has them, that would be so crazy!

A collector was able to snag 1 (but not both!) of the Silver sheets a few months back for only $80 or so on eBay...! Impeccable timing by him heh.

As for the chromium...I should have been more specific with my wording. Recall that the set has 2 promos - the Cyclops & the Wolverine base cards w/ the introduction to the set on the back.

THAT is the Wolverine I was referencing, not the triangular Wolverine shown on my sheet. THAT wolverine w/ the blue bottom doesn't show on my sheet, because it sits on a completely different set - the 1995 Fleer Ultra Spider-Man Masterpieces inserts uncut sheet. I can't recall how many cards it took, maybe 1-3 at most, but it sat on that sheet in the bottom right corner. Sadly I don't have a photo to share...

...as for that triangular Wolverine on my sheet - it was meant to be a tacky add-on to the display box, given to retailers to attach to the box. Recall the Gambit art on the box:

The triangular Wolverine was meant to be placed on the box, but as you can see, they edited in the card (+Rogue and Cable) directly on the art instead.

Oh man on the box art, I never would have thought of that.

Thanks for clarifying the Wolverine. That’s odd they put it on a whole different set’s sheet, but does make sense both being chromium cards. I have never seen that 1995 FUSM Masterpieces sheet anywhere- if you ever find a pic, make sure to post it here!

Silver Holofoil sheet for $80 is downright crazy…arghhh how did I miss that. Of course it would have bugged me a bit to have 1 and not the other. What’s really strange is after all this scouring and following the market….I have yet to find a set of even 94MM base sheets (rarer than one might think?).

Here would be some of my grail uncut sheets. I’m satisfied with even a pic of them…don’t need to own them, I just want to see them.

WANTED:

-1992 Marvel Universe colored holograms
-1993 Marvel Universe #H-IV holo (this might be the “grailiest” of grail sheets ever
-1994 Masterpieces gold or bronze holofoil sheets, if they exist
-1995 Masterpieces Holoflash
-1996 Masterpieces Gold Gallery
-1996 Masterpieces Double Impact (especially important since it’ll reveal the #5,6 vs #1,2,3,4 SP ratio)

Haha, our local comic book shop definitely stuck the triangular Wolvie on the display box, because I remember asking for the box once it was empty so I could take that off of it and add it to my set (which I'd purchased complete as, to this day, I've never actually opened a box of X-Men Ultra Chromium). I still have the oddly-shaped little fella. As I remember, it was affixed to the box with a couple of pieces of double-sided tape, which I'm assuming Fleer provided.

Moving on, these are not an uncut sheets proper, but since the actual sheets haven't been posted here and this is probably what they look like, here goes:

These two hobby shop exclusive wall posters comprise the 1992 Marvel Universe III set from Skybox with the cosmic background painted by none other than Joe Jusko.

Posters from this series, known as "Marvel Press Posters", were issued from around 1984 through 1996 or so in the standard size of 22x34, which I believe these are. The posters, manufactured and distributed to comic shops and subscription services by Marvel Comics themselves, usually released 3 or 4 different per month and cost approximately $4 when the line began and closer to $7 by the time it ended. All told, there were about 400 different posters usually focused on one or two characters or else a team. The vast majority of the art, if I'm not mistaken, was commissioned specifically for the poster series, but a lot of it ended up seeing print elsewhere.

Images originally created for Marvel trading cards appearing on these posters were few and far between but another one definitely exists featuring the Hildebrandt Brothers 9 card chase set from Fleer Ultra X-Men 1993 as a single image.

These two 1992 Marvel Universe III posters were sold together, very unusual for the line, and probably cost about $10 for the pair, maybe a little more. I attained my set a little over 10 years ago when I bought out the (large) remaining stock of posters of a longtime local comic shop that was closing down after about 25 years in business.

Thanks for the confirmation! I was speaking with great confidence but it escapes my memory banks and it was mostly from a position of logic and intuition! Pretty cool to know that they did end up sending it to the retailers anyway!

The background behind the Marvel Press posters is also much appreciated! I think I saw those exact 92MU posters rolled on eBay a month or two ago with an initial bid satisfied for $100 each - a bit pricey for posters so I didn't fight for them. I have a couple of the 94 Flair posters and, not having the sheets themselves, am very happy for them as 94 Flair was one of my first core memories for trading cards.

I've seen the 92MU holos, the MU93 hologram, and the 96MM gold gallery. I'll see about providing photos.

1993 Marvel Universe Spidey vs Venom hologram - sadly, not mine. However, I suspect these came in a 4x4 configuration, so I'm not too upset about it as I really hate cut uncut sheets

1996 Marvel Masterpieces Gold Gallery

Also not mine, and like the others, probably came from a larger uncut sheet of perhaps 2x3 of 2x3.

Fatal Attractions run - Cable for X-Force #25. Sadly I only have this one strip and not the entire 4x4. Very sad indeed.

Avengers & X-Men for the 30th Anniversary MAX poster magazine - I believe these came in a 2x2. Hopefully I can get one one day to replace this one!

Polaroid Spidey vs. Venom 4 layer - these were produced for the Polaroid Marvel sunglasses! There were 4 versions of them, 2 Spidey oriented and 2 X-Men oriented.

Polaroid Juggernaut vs. Wolverine/Bishop 4 layer - sadly I don't have the other 2, but they are Spidey vs. Doc Ock and Apocalypse vs. Cyclops/Wolverine

Sorry for all of those not-technically-cards ones! Getting back to it...this one isn't mine, and you can see that it is clearly (and poorly) cut from a larger sheet, but a beautiful insert.

Wow never saw these! I’m blown away here. I think you’re almost certainly right they came from larger sheets, but since I never saw a full sheet of either the H-IV holo or 1996 Gallery, this will definitely do.

Your 3D holo sheets are amazing- whether they came from cards or cards on comics….post away! Some of my fav uncut sheets are the holo ones- those Polaroid ones included. They just reallllly pop.

So of the main remaining ones I definitely want to eventually see, the 1996MM double impacts is probably at the very top of my list. I know the #1-4 are shortprinted in that set, but I want to know by exactly how much. The sheet has never been seen anywhere to my knowledge. The 1995 Holoflash (which would be a friggin awesome sheet) at least has an entry on the nslists Jeff Allender page that specifies the breakdown cards on it, and the slight short printings.

Thanks for the detailed info! It’s good to have the 1992MU base sheets whether poster or uncut sheet. You got a steal for those posters btw!

If you can find the Wolvie doohickey thing, could you post a pic of it? Don’t go out of your way if it’s buried in storage or anything, but just curious to see it. I’m looking at sealed boxes on ebay, and can’t tell if the wolvie on top is that, or just part of the box art. (Would it be under or over the factory seal?).

I have one if jdandns doesn't get to it before I can. It's very similar to the card on the box art, although perhaps a bit more skewed. And no, they did not come attached from distributors so it would have to be something the retailer did themselves.
