Ben Affleck is just awful so that makes sense.

Hopefully these release the same weekend for a Poulter double feature:

and

Warfare could be pretty intense.

"Warfare" is based on the combat experience of the fellow who was the action scene technical advisor on the set of Garland's "Civil War".
Based on that, it should also be a pretty intense film.

For those who like that kind of relentless battle action, I recommend Season 2 of "Lioness" on Paramount+. It's fairly Hellzapoppin' from start to finish.

Looks like it's going to be in real time too, I could see it being better than Black Hawk Down.

It's a good lookin' group.

Maybe they should just film them recording their lines in the sound booth and just release that instead.

Once again...not 2025 related..

But Jason Momoa resigns with DC....for his dream role, and many people thought he'd fit better...of Lobo

Watched Seven in IMAX* yesterday, I'd only seen it once way back on VHS so that was nice.

*not one of the venues that shows actual 70mm prints

I watched Hundreds of Beavers today because of all the high ratings and fanfare that it had received. I could not have hated it more. I can understand why some people would like it but it is absolutely not a movie that I could appreciate.

I watched Carry-on a few days ago and enjoyed it very much. Just as expected it was some fun, escapist entertainment. Maybe the third or fourth movie I’ve seen in the last year.

Would never watch it but the videos ridiculing Snow White will provide quality entertainment for months.

Yes!
I also find it highly enjoyable to watch middle-aged men crying about movies made for children.

You watch 3 or 4 movies in an entire YEAR? How do you choose the lucky ones? Do you just not enjoy films for the most part? Is there some other media that consumes most of your time? Sorry for all the questions, I just find the 3-4 films a year comment fascinating. There were times in my life I'd watch 3-4 films a DAY.

Or am I missing a joke that we're only 6 days into the year?

I watched it the other night. I get that it was a mind numbing escape but the movie was boring and predictable. It’s weird seeing Bateman try to be a tough guy.

I guess it’s a combination of being busy with family/work being in here/eBay etc along with the fact I just don’t find many new movies I’m compelled to make time for. I watch a fair amount of sports in fall/ winter and spend a lot of time in my pool with my kids in summer also.
It’s strange because I’ve seen a ton of movies from the 70s-90s, then it kinda drops off a cliff.

Thanks for taking the time to answer and may the few you watch in 2025 be enjoyable.

A male Mexican drug cartel kingpin named Manitas Del Monte fakes his death so he can transition into female named Emilia Perez and begin a new life in Europe. All is going well except that she misses her two young sons so much, she returns to Mexico as their long lost aunt so that she can be in their lives. Seeing the devastation she caused many people in her previous life, she sets out to make amends, but it is all complicated by the boys' mother's decision to remarry and move away from the aunt's house (where they'd all been staying) so as to begin a new life with her new husband.

Zoe Saldana portrays the attorney who helps to facilitate Manitas'/Emilia's wishes. Even though she is essentially a co-lead character, Saldana will be nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award, which she will almost certainly win.

The movie is a musical set in Mexico, and while largely in Spanish, was written/directed by French filmmaker who doesn't speak Spanish or English.
Regardless, it works. This is certainly one of the best movies of 2024.

I make no judgment regarding how people choose to waste their lives.
