Default Skybox 2024 1992 MM Platinum

If I'm reading the sell sheet correctly there are 18 parallels if you count the four PMGs:
  • Canvas
  • Leather
  • Holofoil
  • Clear Cut
  • Lenticular
  • Plexi
  • Wood
  • Metallurgy
  • Blue Traxx
  • Rainbow
  • Seismic Gold – #’d to 92
  • Orange Lava – #’d to 25
  • Emerald Surge – #’d to 10
  • Golden Treasures – #’d 1-of-1
  • PMG Red – #’d to 100
  • PMG Blue – #’d to 50
  • PMG Green – #’d to 10
  • PMG Gold – #’d 1-of-1
Plus the 100-card Variant Covers set (which itself is a sort of parallel set) that has its own numbered parallels. It's parallels within parallels.

The Rainbow parallel would be the basic refractor, right?

I wish they'd have primary color refractors like Gold and Red.

Red Skull was removed from MMXL, but was in Platinum so I'm unsure there.

Nightcrawler was included in MMXL but hasn't been in anything else and was always rumored to be banned.

Apocalypse is another character we haven't seen in a long time, but it was in MMXL.

I'm wondering if they will use the Lost Ladies to help fill out missing base cards that they may not be able to print. I could also see a Lost Lady taking the place of the checklist (especially if it's no longer accurate), but it would be pretty cool to see the checklist included!

It seems like exclusion of characters outside of Punisher has been inconsistently applied, wo who knows what we end up with.
Hmm good points with the banned characters. So in MM XL they just skipped over the number right? I could see even with banned characters the go gts sheet still might just say a 100 card set (preliminary, vague, etc). Or even if the set only went up to 99.

Am I the only one who thinks a checklist would be cool, like in a parallel? Some people would probably be mad getting a checklist /10 or whatever as their major hit but that is exactly the kind of thing I dig as a collecting curiosity. I’m picturing different color tops for the checklist for each parallel.

Going back to baseball cards and the 1996 Finest set having a checklist in refractor parallel, or even the 1994MM checklist in gold signature…it’s kinda cool. Then again UD really doesn’t seem to do checklists in their products. They didn’t include it in the MM16 92 buybacks (even though I think they should have).

It’s a ton of parallels for sure. Is there anything that suggests the canvas, Holofoil, and lenticular are actually parallels and not just added insert sets? Is there a full checklist posted somewhere, like an excel sheet?

The reason I wonder because….really UD gonna do a 100 card canvas set, 100 card Holofoil set, a 100 card lenticular set…I can’t believe it. I don’t know how a lenticular for a single card even makes sense, outside doing something like the old Sportflix cards and it actually shows motion (which would be really cool! But I highly doubt this). More likely they take 4 different cards and put them into one lentincular, and have just 9 lenticulars. This is their template for all recent MM sets.

So possibly take 3 of those off there as true parallels. I’m curious what the heck the Leather cards are.

Anyone else wonder why there is an Emerald green surge parallel /10 and a PMG green parallel /10? Why do we need two green parallels numbered to the same thing. Same with the gold /1’s

This is a hockey Leather parallel for what its worth.

I think it's kind of ugly. Maybe they will spruce it up for this set?

Yeah, I'd need to see an actual checklist. Some of those are hockey Platinum parallels (and some we saw in Marvel Platinum already). But Rainbow being listed at #10 is odd since it's usually the lowest parallel, or most common, or however you want to say it. There's already a Metallurgy subset (the metallic /25s from, MM, is it?). Clear Cut is usually normal (35pt?) cardstock acetate cards, but there is a thicker Plexi set as well? But Canvas, Leather, and Wood are, if memory serves from hockey, just designs, not textures or anything like that.

Lastly, it's strange that the Seismic Gold is /92 when it was /10 in Marvel Platinum. And in hockey Emerald Surge is typically the /10 like it is here.

This is just a weird mish-mash of parallels that look like they are out of order or something.

So the hulk metallurgy….is that basically the FPG metal Hulk card that came with every pledge in the Kickstarter? Gotta be awfully similar you’d think.

Someone else said it, and very true- this set is like UD throwing the kitchen sink at a product, like a last hoorah in marvel (but who knows if they will sneak in another surprise even after this).

It’s got a little of everything, from

Metal- PMGs, comic cuts
Marvel Masterpieces- the set itself, mirage, Holofoil, canvas etc
Platinum- the chrome, and many parallels

Only thing it’s missing is the typical Fleer Ultra inserts like jambalaya and medallions.

Even has new stuff from hockey.

The solicitation page mentions black opal Medallion 1 of 1s.

I don't know if that means only 1/1 Medallions or other parallels as well but there are medallions.

There's gotta be more Medallions.

The more I think about it, I seriously think they took some things intended for other sets and dumped 'em into this one. The sell sheet lists the PMGs by themselves and not with the parallels, and doesn't specify there are 100 of them, so I wonder if they were destined for a different Metal set (like the Rogues Gallery one).

Guess we can surmised more when the checklist comes out.

In this case UD threw the entire kitchen sink into this set. Has something from almost every set brand.

As for the possibility of the PMGs not being true parallels but a separate insert set- hoping not the case. No reason to clutter the set with extraneous stuff that’s not 92MM. Given that PMGs in recent years have been parallels and not a separate 42ish card insert set, I would lean towards they are parallels and the sell sheet is just listing them in a different area for some reason. True we can only wait for the checklist to see.

Yeah some of these are from hockey. Clear cut is indeed 35pt and Plexi is like the Crystal from SP Game Used and are big thick slab versions, like a 100pt clear cut. Canvas does have a texture to it.

Man this is going to be nuts on the 92 set. I can’t wait to see some pictures.

I’m excited to see this one too. Really would like to know pricing. With the number of parallels and insert parallels I don’t think it’ll be that short printed.

Indeed, looks like this is UD’s recent strategy to really jack up print runs, having a slew of parallels like in platinum. Can guarantee 1-4 numbered parallels a box or whatever it’ll be and still have a ton of boxes.

Boxes look like 300. A lot, but expected tbh.

Blasters sell sheet is now available.

Also looks like the hobby sell sheet got cleaned up quite a bit. No autos, sketches or medallions. Maybe even more was removed?

It looks like the Corner Box Creations and Fantastic Cover parallels are going to be Jusko comic book covers. So still Jusko art, but not from 1992 obviously. I guess Marvel must just own the rights to those covers and UD is able to use them?

I am going to be so broke after this set. It looks really good. That Storm what if parallel…

Yea the extra insert sets like comic covers look like all Jusko. Glad they are sticking with a cohesive Jusko set.

I see the lost cards dispersed in there like jubilee and scarlet witch. Guessing they will be replacing the banned characters in the set.
