The 30 I subbed at the Philly show were all slabbed pre-2022, so no Newton Rings.

If any did, I could have been the guinea pig.

I have to say, I'm one of the dodos that gets modern books in 9.8s if I really love them, and only one of the books out of about 10 modern books I've purchased this year had the Newton Rings, and it was actually a Green Lantern book from the weird 12-issue run between the New 52 and the current series.

None of the Absolute DC Books or the Ultimate Line Marvel Books (and I have approximately 10 of them - have the rings, just that one Green Lantern book).

BTW: I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger on Ultimate Spider-Man #1 - goes for about $200 on eBay but holy crow, the pop report on that book is INSANE!!

Absolute Batman has a really high pop count too, but surprisingly the other Absolute titles only have a fraction of the Issue #1s graded as the Batman book, and same with Marvel - The Ultimates, Black Panther, X-Men - they all combined and multiplied by 4 probably have less copies graded than Ultimate Spider-Man.

Comic shop teaser "preview" floppy showed Miles Morales is entering the Ultimate Universe this summer... supposed to be a six-issue run but we'll see about that!

UPDATE:

My 30 graded books showed as received at COMC for Elite Processing.

I was relieved, as the COMC booth had no way to provide a "receipt" at their table - they were just at the Philly show to receive submissions and get them to Redmond on their dime.

It was a risk, I wouldn't have done it with expensive cards or books, but my most valuable book was $100ish (Watchmen #1 1st print 9.6), and a lot are probably now not even worth the cost it was to slab them, so I figured it was a calculated risk, as it would have been almost $160-180 to send them honestly through the USPS.

Media mail would have been $60 but expressly says comic books are not media mail eligible on the USPS site (let alone graded comic books).

Good luck! I had two raw copies of Watchmen 1 that they delisted bc someone flagged them as inappropriate. It had to be someone other than the initial screener bc I was able to list the books for a period of time.

Will be interesting to see if they treat your slabbed copy differently. The way they flag some comics but not others is so hit or miss. I’m building up a small inventory of unsupported comics there.

Yeah, I just read the trade paperback instead lol. I hadn't read any Jonathan Hickman before this, but it's a great story.

That is super weird - glad it worked out. You're a braver soul than me, that's for sure.

I'm also reading through the Ultimate Wolverine series (the first issue is just a second print):

Wolverine completely F's up Nightcrawler in one of my favorite panels:

This is absolutely absurd.
There's some violence in the first issue, but it's more likely that Doctor Manhattan's bare bottom in a few panels is what got some weirdo prude's attention.
Yikes!

Yeah… it’s so hard to figure out what they won’t allow. A new batch arrived last night in my account and it won’t even let me list this one…

That's (no pun intended) nuts.

I'm hoping it being slabbed makes a difference.

You see those porn-esque comics that go for insane prices - not judging, there's obviously a market for it, but anything comic book that was sold at a newsstand (especially one as well known as the Watchmen) being marked as inappropriate content seems crazy. Don't you have to be a certain age to be on there to begin with?

COMC didn't accept Zerocool Jackass cards as a matter of policy, which I get.

Most were clean, pics of the people and stunts, but every so often you'd see a bare butt or some male genitalia, so I get it.... but Watchmen! Yeesh!

Of the "Ultimate" Line, my list goes (1) The Ultimates, (2) Ultimate Spider-Man, (3) Ultimate Black Panther and then (4) Ultimate X-Men.

Can judge Wolverine quite yet - too few issues as compared to the rest, but I have a feeling it'll bump Black Panther and X-Men back and take spot 3. I can't see anything overtaking the Ultimates or Ultimate Spider-Man.

In the Marvel summer previews guide, Miles Morales is going to have his own series in the 6160 Universe this summer. It's slated to be a 6-issue run (but so was Absolute Martian Manhunter by DC, and after the Week 1 sales they extended their issue order to 12!).

I'm guessing it's because of the horror in the squirrel's eyes as he realizes Squirrel Girl's bikini is made of squirrels he once knew because it can't possibly be Big Bertha using Flatman as a hammock (although, really more of a beach blanket), can it?

Hehe

Yeah, I don't get it.

It's like they're trying to bring back the Comics Code Authority from 1954.

If I walked into a comic book shop looking for a Watchmen book, and the owner said, "Sorry, we don't carry that - it's inappropriate." I would literally think it was a joke.

I see a bunch of new slabs listed on COMC… many marked “damaged case” … did they get damaged in shipping?
