Best case scenario, he's gonna offer you like 60% of what the "expert" tells him it is worth....

Are you willing to take that or would you just be going for the experience knowing you're probably not gonna sell?

Chances you can get yourself cast as that casting director's new husband?

Was on a trip to Vegas in 2011 and me and a buddy decided to go visit their shop. We get there and they happened to be filming that day. We get in line to go into the shop and just as we step in.......they make everybody get out for filming. The only people in there while they filmed were handpicked.

While we were in line, I noticed people with items in their hand to see if the shop wanted to buy them. Nothing of particular note but very oddball items. One lady had an "antique" spray paint can.

We eventually got back in the shop after they filmed and it was underwhelming. Shop it not big at all. Prices were insanely high on everything. It def was neat to see items though that you had seen them purchase on the show.

We did get to see the Old Man. When they cleared the shop out, he pulled up to go in and do the filming. He wasn't riding in an old Lincoln either. Brand new Jaguar. One guy ran up to him saying "I'll pay you $25 to take a picture with you". His response was "Put your money away son. I'll take a pic with you for free".

Experience would be worth it. Would be going to LV anyway during filming dates that I was told.

I guess seeing myself on television would be kind of neat.

I still have not been accepted yet.

Doesn't everyone think a high end Ohtani or Purdy card would be more interesting to viewers of this show? I would think so myself. Maybe they like older stuff. Not like Ohtani/Purdy cards are rare.

I am shocked that reality TV is in fact staged and scripted.

I don’t follow reality tv, so let me see if I have this straight: they want you to sell them the card, most likely for well under market value, in exchange for what? 15 seconds of fame on a scripted cable show?

Maybe you can sell it to them with the agreement to buy it back at the same price the next day. If they just care about the content.

i dont care much for the regular show but i caught myself watching their antiques roadshow ripoff version where they travel the country and setup at a location. saw a lot of pokemon and magic cards not much sports

its 1000% staged but decent mindless tv

I know a person that was on American Pickers and that is exactly how they did it. Walked around his place finding stuff, made offers, then production put the stuff back to be "found".

Are you joking? if so ignore but why would they want a Purdy card over the one they inquired about? lol

Anyway the same way they use you for ratings and will lowball, I say take this opportunity yourself as them being a commercial advertisment for your card. When/If you decide to sell it will always be nice to be able to add "As seen on Pawn Stars" so even if no intention to sell I'd still go on

I remember watching the episode with Gary AKA King Charizard when he brought out dozens of 1st Edition Charizard cards on Pawn Stars. The collection is was probably worth 10x what he was offering to sell it for during COVID but considerably less now. I don't think he really intended to sell them either but it was brilliant to market them and himself.

They probably have no idea who Brock Purdy is...."hey Chum come take a look at this...."

Hope I’m not bursting any bubbles here but the show is mostly fake. You may very well get on but your card probably won’t trade hands no matter how it plays out on the show. No reason not to do it though. I’d love to see a soccer card on there.

Basically, there is a interested buyer who has ties to the shop. Interested buyer let’s Rick know and Rick reaches out to the producers who have their people contact you. The viewership for the scarcity and popularity of this players card should help in ratings?

The shop is located on the older Vegas area. Found Johnny’s Toy shop on accident. Not sure what it’s called because it was before he had issues.

Will find out in 3-4 weeks whether they want me on. I would be surprised if they said no. They have had a lot of cards on there that seem a lot less interesting.

I had a quick look on the registry and unsigned cards were going for 1500-2500 at the time the series was produced. I cant find one with an auto.

When Rick was doing the spin-off show I was asked to be on it. But because of family ties and work I couldnt.

You should do it.

Update...

Never asked me on.

Not surprised. Cards aren't mainstream at all. I am sure the shop has lost a lot of money on them.
