Why do any research just spout off what ever take you have then dare anyone to say your wrong because they have a podcast of course they are right and know more then anyone else.

Wax museum is good. I really enjoy Breakout cards as well. I appreciate Ryan’s knowledge of vintage and non-sports. I guess that’s technically YouTube and not a podcast per se but still good content.

Sports Card Nonsense annoys me because there is seemingly no effort to do any sort of preproduction. Call me crazy, but looking up recent sales seems like something you would do before hitting record. I get trying to have a certain level of spontaneity, but the show comes across as lazy to me. Not to mention how many times they seem to have no idea who the players are, regardless of the sport.

I'm a big fan of most of what the Ringer puts out, but I find SCN to be far beneath anything else I've come across.

sorry for the bump. Any recommendations on solid podcasts?

I used to listen to sports card nonsense but it is getting played out. Tired of the constant hawking of their sponsors, the lack of knowledge of the hosts both in cards and sports, Mike's arrogance and the meandering off topic. The affiliation with Fanatics has also introduced bias.

I think the ringer could produce something much better.

Any entertaining podcasts where I can get insightful hobby info?

I like the Crossover, with the Cardladder guys. Disclaimer, they don't know #@#@#@#@ about baseball or baseball cards. They focus on basketball and some on football.

Same..I don't take that show seriously at all. Mike is super biased with every product because he's a breaker and they take advantage of their naive clueless listener base. And the sarcastic jerk schtick is beyond played out
Sometimes I’ll listen just to pass time but this is what kills me. It’s not even funny.

Can’t believe SCN is still alive. The dozen listeners must be thrilled though.

I listened to one episode of SCN last week and one of the cohosts spent half the episode talking about how their guests education wasn't legit because they only took one class at a Harvard-level program? Something like that. Insufferable to listen to.

I used to go down that rabbit hole too and I just stopped cause it’s all fake and cringe. Only person I watch now is a dude with 2k followers called scv sports cards. He posts daily and he isn’t anything like CC2 and the others.

Glad you came around on SCN...worst podcast in the hobby. Unfortunately, there's plenty of content, but very little intelligent discussion.

Here's my list:

- Dan The Card Man (YouTube only)

- Retro Card Chat Podcast (Mike's Retro Trading Cards) both pod and YouTube content. Former shop owner and his two buddies shooting the breeze. Nothing sketchy and not retro...mostly current events.

- Wax Museum - this is almost exclusively basketball, which I'm not too into, but they have some crossover topics. BO's own TBP had a nice appearance recently with interesting stories.

- Sports Cards Live - this one is hit or miss depending on the guest and topic. I had a nice chat with Jeremy a few weeks ago and expect to see fewer "commercial" episodes and more card talk in the coming months. Mostly a hockey collector but delves into all areas of the hobby.

- Melted Wax Podcast (YT only) - Newer creator who does a weekly show with Jeremy from SCL. I find him to be measured and quite thoughtful.

- SCV Sports Cards (YT) - interesting content, his Karl Rove-esque white board makes me laugh. At least he calls it down the middle.

Shows I listened to but wised up:

- SCN - was never good, but the hobby is really a content desert.

- Cards to the Moon - I really tried, but they are insufferable.

- Mojobreak Sports Card Show - decent content until they denied the possibility of breakers receiving preferential treatment/loaded boxes when the Panini Crown Royale issue arose. Self-serving to say the least.

- Card Talk...these guys can go pound sand. Gary V grift school grads.

- Sports Card Therapist -- guy was found out.

- Pack to the Future Podcast -- these guys have more money than card sense, and had a weird falling out with a member that was never fully explained. Used to have some fun banter, but the only reasonable one left the show.

I consider Dan the most trustworthy Youtuber in the hobby -- he definitely tries to look out for the community as a watchdog. The day he sells out to Fanatics or another hobby institution will be a sad day.

You have listen/watch to Spitballin' Cards: https://www.youtube.com/@SpitballinCards

It's a roundtable discussion-format hobby channel, with four regulars talking about different topics in the hobby. These fellas know their stuff -- I think some of them are members of BO. I've only watched a few videos -- there's so much good content on YouTube and my attention is easily pulled away -- but I enjoyed them.

This reminds me I left out Scottie B cards...he's the real deal. Actually does research and crunches the numbers.

Philmington and T-Pott don't do it for me. T-Pott is a Geoff Wilson guy.

This seems like a good time to plug the podcast of one of our own: The Essential Credentials Podcast

They just started back up. If you are into 90s cards, check them out.

I'm laughing seeing the SCV guy mentioned a few times. I've only watched a few videos because he doesn't seem to cover baseball much. The markerboard thing is wild, and one entire video revolved around him fighting a homeless guy. He is definitely different.

When I see his intro looking through slabs,it loses all credibility for me. He comes off as just another here today, gone tomorrow influencer like Geoff Wilson and MojoSports.

I find the Sports Card Radio brothers entertaining, plus they've been in the hobb......I mean hustle for years and are still around. I also watch ThoseBackPages channel from time to time. Eric does a great job and is strictly hobby-centric which I love.

He openly admits that he doesn't follow baseball, but he's looking to start. He doesn't approach his channel from a collecting standpoint; it's strictly buying raw, grading, and selling. I just appreciate how raw and unfiltered he is. He bashes himself on the regular. Before he got the big board, when he had the smaller board, I would audibly laugh out loud when he'd be in the middle of a rant and just right hook the whiteboard because he was so mad/frustrated.

That was the first thing I thought when I first saw it, but he's not really like how he portrays himself in the intro. He's been around for a few months and when he started he was very stiff and you could tell he was a little uncomfortable, but now he's fully relaxed and he speaks what he believes. He's a breath of fresh air if you're sick of the "rah rah" type of channels.

I would check out some of his videos if he does start doing baseball, he is kinda entertaining. I'll also say that on the videos I did watch, he seems to take the time to respond to every comment in the comments section. I can't think of any other content creator that does that.

He’s doing something different than all the other channels, which I appreciate. While he mostly talks football, he routinely talks about manufacturers, grading, buyers, buying/selling, and doesn’t sugar coat his thoughts. I’ve been watching hobby content creators for awhile now and he’s about as honest as you’d want a hobby content creator to be.

Mike knows sports and cards, Jesse didn't know anything about either when they started but that is his role as surrogate for people just getting into the hobby. I like it because Mike is a former m#@#@#@#@#@#@#@ like myself so I get a Boston sports slant on the hobby and his sarcastic charm doesn't bother me since it's what I grew up around but I can definitely see him being off putting to normal people

Yup, Mike reminds me of an old school sports radio guy. Grew up listening to that stuff. Goes a little over the top sometimes but I find him entertaining.

Do agree it would be nice if they had someone with more sports knowledge on there as Mike's takes can go unchecked sometimes.
